Shaolin monks training, Zhengzhou, China.The world famous Shaolin Monastery is known to many in the West for its association with martial arts, specifically Shaolin Kung Fu. The physical strength and dexterity displayed by the monks is incredible, although they exude a deep serenity.

GRAND TRUNK ROAD (GT)

For two thousand years, the route of the Grand Trunk Road (GT) has connected a ribbon of humanity stretching Northwest from Kolkata, India, the city of culture and joy, to Kabul, the city of conflict and danger. It was the route of merchants, buyers, conquerors, refugees, prophets, nomads and pilgrims through what is today India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Rudyard Kipling said, “And truly the Grand Trunk Road is a wonderful spectacle. Such a river of life as no where else exists in the world."

I once went kayaking with a childhood friend That type of friend who will always be childhood, no matter Bifurcating morals as we develop different bodies and diverge Schools apart, one the rough taste of coffee and cold libraries, maybe I am lying The other the yellow exhale of quiet minuets on lukewarm divides, shores In the eyes of clever boys And I never walked that walk on rocks baring their teeth, never Sat that swing session ratifying the losing of the intrepid citrus taste of (childhood) dusk But but But stuck in those blackberry bushes with kayak gone astray I saw (found) a glimpse of tangerine puddles caught in nests of midnight green Enchanting, a fairytale I picked a blackberry and the sweetness was gone.
