“Have you ever heard Precious by Esperanza Spalding? That’s always my song when my heart hurts you know? You should check it out.” Imogen suggests as she looks at him. “I feel that though, some people never really leave your heart. I up and left, went from New Orleans to this place and it worked but sometimes. Sometimes it’s the tone of someone’s voice, or something in the corner of my eye and I get that lovesick kind of feeling again.”
“But yes mama is a voodoo queen, I wasn’t gonna give you chicken bones and ouija boards just maybe some gemstones or something-stuff to put by your bed for clarity you know?” She asks with a smile, “I like to hedge my bets, get in good with all the powers that be.” Imogen shrugs before putting out her cigarette and looking at him. “Maybe you were meant for a little hurt, beautiful music doesn’t always come from the good times-sometimes you have to go through something to make art you know? Look at Sam Smith and Sia.”
