Can you keep a secret? Do you ever miss France? I mean, that must have been pretty cool, right? It was a good joke. Especially because it was rather accurate.
Yeah, there are always special circumstances in the way, aren’t there? Your mama? Don’t answer that if you don’t want to, I’ve always been too curious for my own good. I can write music, I can write lyrics… I just can’t build up enough confidence to show it to anyone.
Of course. You will keep my secret for Harvey, yes? So I will keep yours. I miss France often, and wish I could go home. But I’ve built a life here.
Yes, I am afraid so. Well, my Mama... no, I won’t talk about it. If that’s alright. And if you can write music and lyrics, you should share it, especially if you’d like it to be your job. Has anyone ever heard your music?
lucas-hearne:
Of course you can ask, I don’t mind talking about it. I’m not a 100% sure what I lost, but so far it’s been things that have happened with friends, certain days with my nan, the girl that I was dating… yeah, I forgot her altogether, but she’s coming back to me. Did you used to live in France? I’ve personally never left New York, but it sounds so cool to travel. I do write music, in my spare time, but it’s hard to make a living of it. It’s all about luck, and well… I’m just not that lucky a person. Besides, whilst I do write music, I don’t tend to share it…
Well rich people have gardens… aren’t there like, agencies of some kind for landscape architects? Couldn’t you walk up to one of them? I’m sorry, I have no idea how that world works.
Oh, I’m so sorry. I hope your girl comes back to you wholly one day, all in one piece. Memories and everything. And yes, I used to live in France as a little girl. And then we moved here, my Mama’s home. I cannot imagine wanting to leave New York, it’s a beautiful city. I haven’t travelled much, not really. But yes, you don’t seem very lucky... with the accident. That was a joke.
Right now, I can’t support myself financially to do what I want. Plus, there is my Mama, and... one day I will do it. But not today. But if you can write your music, you should share it with the world. That’s your gift!
lucas-hearne:
Yup. It was pretty bad… I um- I lost my memories of the past like… five years or so? It’s mostly back now though, but yeah along with my injuries, it was quite bad. French is such a cool language though, my knowledge is just limited to being able to order in a small restaurant or something. Hey, props to you to be able to speak two languages, I barely control one. Why thank you, my mediocre face really appreciates it. Well… I’ve got my own dream, you see. It doesn’t actually contain much technician skills, to be honest. None, if I’m being accurate. I want to write music.
That sounds amazing! If I had a garden, I’d offer you mine to experiment on, but I doubt you’ll be able to do much with concrete…
Oh... oh, I’m so sorry. That sounds truly awful. I’m thankful you can recover some of your memories now. I don’t... what kind of things did you lose? If I can ask that. I hope that’s not rude. But yes, French is wonderful. Minimal French is all you need outside of France, really. If you need it at all. And oh, thank you. It’s really... well, I grew up speaking both. Mostly French, as I said. Also, if you want to write music, you should write music! That sounds like a lovely dream.
Well, that’s the problem with New York. Nobody has a garden. Maybe I could do a park one day, but it seems like only a dream.
lucas-hearne:
I used to think it was all fine, but after getting into a pretty big accident myself… I’m starting to change my mind on that. You’re French? Well now I just feel stupid for saying that. I’m not an actor, no. Who’d want to see this ugly mug on a stage? No no, I’m a technician. Maybe one day I’ll be more than that.
So what’s the dream?
You were in an accident? A bad one? I hope not. But yes, I am French. I’ve been speaking English a while though, it was only my Father who was French. But still. It gets confusing. I slip up sometimes, because we spoke French at home. I don’t think you’re ugly... not at all, if that’s not too bold to say so. What’s a step up from technician? What’s more than that?
Landscape architecture. I want to build gardens, and parks. Beautiful ones.
lucas-hearne:
I haven’t got a clue yet. I’m just realizing that being a bikemessenger isn’t a particularly safe occupation, and cab drivers tend to be asshole - pardon my French. Who knows, maybe I’ll look into a more full-time job at the theatre.
But you’re a florist, right? What’s that like?
Oh! Well, I suppose it’s not... you know, safe. And that. I can pardon the French, being French myself. But, at the theatre? Are you an actor?
Oh, it’s lovely. I mean... the dream is much different. Well, not much different. Just... bigger.
lucas-hearne:
The internet is a very confusing place. I should have used like a stripe there, or just completed a full sentence.
I do, actually. I’ve been considering into looking into something else though.
Indeed! But please, let’s forget about it. It’s alright. And something else? Something else like what?
lucas-hearne:
Oh no, that pause was very strangely placed and I fully understand how it could have thrown you off. Apologies for that.
I’m a bikemessenger. Delivering parcels is part of the job description.
The dot dot dots have always felt a little ominous to me... but please, don’t apologise!
That makes more sense. Do you like it?
lucas-hearne:
Oh no no no, that was a good pause! I definitely think it’s a good idea, especially if it’s something that they both love so much and have in common together. I didn’t mean anything bad by it!
Cupid who had to spend nearly ten minutes convincing the girl that the package wasn’t from me…
Oh! I’m sorry. I mistook your pause for bad. Please... pay no attention to me.
Why were you delivering someone else’s parcel? Was this person a friend of yours? You were doing them a favour?
lucas-hearne:
Yeah that’s… that’s very cute, and definitely original. I can imagine being excited to help out with that. The most romantic thing I’ve ever had to help with was deliver a package filled with rosepettals and a note asking the girl to prom.
You... paused a little. Do you not think it’s a good idea? I know Harvey will be bashful at first, but that boy... well, you have to see them together! I know he will be fond of the idea.
That’s romantic too. You’re like cupid.
lucas-hearne:
Okay, yeah that’s really cute. A plan that involves flowers, huh? In the movies those tend to lead to a proposal of sorts.
To my understanding, I’m supposed to send a few flowers every day to him, and the boy he loves has picked out all these quotes, from books and such? He likes to read, I forgot to mention he likes to read... and they are attached with a little tag. So every day Harvey wakes up to a flower, and a quote from a book such as Anna Karenina, or Pride and Prejudice, all the great love stories, oui?
It is so romantic! I do not think either of them are at the proposing stage yet, but if they ever were, I would be happy to assist!
lucas-hearne:
Oh, I’m very good at keeping secrets. Well… not always, but overall, yes.
Well, I am sure he does not check his blog that much so it is safe to talk about... the boy my best friend loves? He has organised this deeply lovely surprise for him. I get to help, as I am the florist and part of the very sneaky plan. Oh! It’s going to be lovely.
lucas-hearne:
Okay, that sounds incredibly adorable and I am curious.
It is honestly the sweetest thing I have ever heard. Can you keep a secret?
Somebody special that I know is getting a surprise very soon. People in love are so endearing.

you know i’m just a fool who’s willing to sit around and wait for you but, baby, can’t you see? there’s nothing else for me to do i’m hopelessly devoted to you
@immy-c: I think I broke Harvey's phone with all the excited texts I fired off at him just now, but look at us go! All fifty states! #LoveWins
