He stands idle, hands in his pockets after shuffling to theside of the counter to await the slice of cake and coffee he had ordered fromthe barista. The abundant scent of fresh coffee hung densely about the air inthe café and Kyuhyun could not resist but to inhale deeply. Such paltrycomforts induced a sensation of enjoyment and at last a wash of tranquiltemperance could overtake him.
At length, a paper cup filled nearly to the brim with hissimple order of Americano was presented to him upon the counter. Gently, hereaches for a lid to place it securely atop and trap the warmth of the steamback inside. He cradles the cup as it radiates its warmth throughout the fleshof his hands, holding it with a gentle grip.
Still awaiting his slice of cake, he stares past the crowdof people and outside the windows, thinking of nothing and merely enjoying hislonesome venture. Then, a high-pitched squeal of laughter punctuates hispleasantry as two young children come running into the café, followed by twoadults. They giggle and shout, shoving chairs out of their way while the twoadults stand in the line.
Kyuhyun heaves a sigh, barely giving notice to the woman whohad come to stand next to him.
“It’s funny, you think anything is possible when you’re akid.”
The words give him a start and he turns his head to meet herglance, examining the pale-haired lady. Had those words been directed to him?
Uncertain and nervous, he offers her a tremulous bob of hishead before he replies, “That’s… one way to put it, I suppose,” he punctuateshis statement with a short sip of his coffee.
“There’s certainly more freedom of movement,” he says, ‘and lack ofmanners,’ he adds to himself.

In Simplicity [open]
Days were often harder now. Days had always been difficult for him. Unspoken words; steps not taken. The same occurrences over and over. Days were bitter, yet tasteless. Nothing. Often, he would wonder why he left his house at all. He would wonder why he ever thought it prudent to leave the comfort of his office chair. His bedroom existed as nothing more than a reminder of the dreams he didn’t wish to dream and the hideousness of his wasteful life. His existence savoured its iniquity when he dreamed. Solemn, cautious steps would deliver him to work and home again in a repetitious cycle that felt inescapable. Alone he would go, alone he would be, and alone he would return. The days were gone where he would wait for his father’s phone call or voice on the answering machine – that voice never arrived, and at length Kyuhyun stopped waiting. Periodically, he would visit the library – or the museum or the bar nearby. Anything. He would watch the other people, haunting a book or a painting or a drink with a spectral essence. He languished in his perceived invisibility, wondered what had become of him. Wondered how many other solitary individuals who passed him felt as desperate and wretched as he. But perhaps there were none. God, like his father, has always had a favourite and it had never been him. It was there in the museum that he stared into a starry, dark landscape of trees. On occasion, he would tilt his head and watch the others who passed him by. He was statuesque, expressionless, seeking. Bathed in a suit of darkest brown, the lonesome figure passed rows of paintings and sculptures. Wide steps intermittent stares pierced his movements in a succession that marked him as a creature of unbreakable habits. Then, a single solid oak chair in the centre of the room ensnared his attentions. Were it not for one small label, he would have thought the chair to be nothing and yet, instead, it was supposedly a member of the exhibit as much as any other work of art. “Strange,” a soft outtake of breath. Such a curious creation. How many had sat upon it, inattentive and uncaring to its art. Though he would never consider such a thing to be a piece of artwork. Ridiculous. Stepping backward to turn himself around, the heel of his shoe met with the toes of another. Started, he faltered back toward the chair sculpture, a hand lain on the backrest for support. “My apologies. I didn’t see you there.”

The time difference is startling - it was still morning here. In bad English, read from a sheet of paper, she gives the address to a cabbi and finds herself outside a beautiful bar in the middle of a completely foreign world to her. Fantastic; she places her best smile on her face and tugs a photo free of her envelope, observing her target and finding him perched at the bar scowling into a small glass of amber liquid. She settles herself beside him coyly and hails the tender, ordering - again in poor English - red wine, offering the unfamiliar bills to the tender as he hands her the large glass and accepting back her change.
She turns to the stranger - he’s Korean, thankfully. She hums, and inquires “Kyuhyun?”
He can’t help but sigh as he skirts the drink about in circles along the bottom of the glass. He knew it was pitiful of him, but although the glass was small and the liquid not poured to even half he could hardly bear the thought of touching his lips to it, never mind allowing it to seep back over his tongue. Ever-so-gently he continues to flick his wrist about in circles, staring into the glass with near-fascination as he twirls the cup about.
It felt like an eternity later, but he could sense someone moving to the bar. He turns his head very slightly, catching a female figure pulling herself onto the stool next to him. A grimace pulled at his mouth and he felt the muscles in his body tighten. He did not feel comfortable with someone so close to him – especially a strange woman. He couldn’t bring himself to glance at her to see what she looked like, knowing his tendency to become more anxious in the presence of attractive women. He can hear her speak – there is an accent in her English unlike the locals, but still he evaded looking at her.
Mindlessly, he busied himself with his glass and tipped it back to his mouth to take a gulp, then –
“Kyuhyun?”
The shock of her recognising him accompanied with the awful taste of the drink made him flinch, and he chokes on the drink and he can feel it burn as it found its way down his throat while some of it made its way up his nose.
“Aish, jenjang!” he choked out in a gasp before holding the bridge of his nose, squeezing until the burning sensation abated. Finally, he coughed once more and turned to glance at the woman, meekly staring up at her. He almost opened his mouth to speak before remembering the reason he was there – to meet a co-worker of sorts, although it had been some years since he had seen her. At this realisation he straightened his back and squared his shoulders before offering her his hand to shake.
“I’m sorry about that, you startled me. Caught me daydreaming, you could say,” he smiled, making heavy effort to enunciate his English correctly. “Yes, I am Kyuhyun.” He could see that she is also Asian – likely Korean, he supposed from the features on her face – but he cannot be sure she also shared his language.
“Hanguk mal hasil jul asaeyo?” Do you speak Korean he asked. He could feel his ears turning red, knowing he would be embarrassed if she could not understand what he had just said, but judging from the little English he had already heard from her he could safely assume that she was more comfortable with at least some other language that was not English.
Hello
Kyuhyun peruses the shoe section of the Sinsegae, stepping around the crowds of people and agilely evading boxes and shoes placed carelessly around the floor.
God, people can be lazy. Such a mess, he considers, wondering where the employees had gone to and annoyed that shoppers couldn’t place things back where they came from. At length, legs carry him to a section of running shoes and he pauses, considering which pairs he may be interested in and cursing inwardly at the prices.
Then a deep voice picks at the thin male’s ears, causing him to turn and investigate the source. Immediately, he spots the other and he falters for a moment - almost intimidated by the larger male’s sudden invasion into his vision. Kyuhyun narrows his eyes for a moment, stepping backward before relaxing his shoulders.
“I uh -” he blinks, “I’m sorry, was I in your way?” He places the black running shoe back down atop its box. “I was just looking so I don’t mind moving, my apologies.”
Kyuhyun reaches out again with a lithe hand at another pair of shoes, examining the soles and eyeing the other man with a curious gaze.
bvdwolfs:
There’s something about the male that sparks a curiosity in her. Her body language is rather blunt about it, mismatched eyes observing for the moment, and she tries to mirror his stance. Savannah had always been overly curious and perhaps a little on the strange side. As today she wasn’t dressed much different from the said twelve year old boy she had fought off for the wallet. It was hard to believe she was the oldest omega amongst the others she lived with.
“He’ll walk away with a good lesson today,” She straightens back up, taking back to her normal upbeat self, if anything her nose turned up in the air. “Girls are just as strong as boys.”
Long legs move with elegance as she steps around the male, smile bright. “No charge, first times free. Second time’s a coffee. Although I can stay with you in case those young devils come back for more.”
Kyuhyun offers the woman a friendly smile, finding himself admiring her virility and rather envying her for it. If he had all the vigour she seemed to present herself with - well, then he likely wouldn’t be in the position he currently was.
Although... her next words gave Kyuhyun pause, and his eyes widen very slightly - he had assumed they were merely having a game of words, but now he wonders if she was actually serious about fighting with a child to retain his wallet.
Ah, he was thinking far too literally as per usual. His smile returns: “Your vitality serves you well! And I apologise to you for causing you to go out of your way as such...” This he means well by, as his pride was certainly lessened by now. Losing his wallet to a child and having to make a young woman assist him? A failure on his part.
His eyes follow her as she paces about him, finding himself excited with curiousity - something he doesn’t feel enough of, he realises, if this random encounter were to be the highlight of his day.
“Well... I’m not certain they meant any harm aside from attempting to make use of my misfortune but... I could get you that coffee now, if you wish?” He pauses, a subtle frown draws itself upon his face - he hopes she doesn’t misplace his intentions, but he swallows hard and continues, “I seem to have unintentionally caused you to go greatly out of your way on my behalf and - “ He stops himself.
“Well, a proper thank you is all I wish to give, regardless.”
borayxxn:
Bora wasn’t offended at all. In fact, she was even surprised at how close he was to remembering her name. Like she said, she didn’t blame him if he didn’t remember, especially since it had been about 10 years.
It wasn’t hard for her to recognize him, he basically looked the same. Same face, but a bit more mature, and he got even taller. The aura she felt from him was definitely the same, though.
“It’s actually Bora,” She chuckled, feeling bad for having to correct him. “How come I’ve never seen you around here before?”
A subtle wash of pink spread across the otherwise lurid complexion of the male, he bent his head downward and cleared his throat before sheepishly replying, “Ah... I see. I apologise for that. Bora-ssi,” her name repeated for emphasis and the lacklustre hope that he would remember - his memory, he had to admit, served little purpose to him when it wasn’t glaring facts.
“But your hair! You’re... blonde! It’s quite a shock, you must admit,” He offered a shy smile, gesturing to her hair with his eyes.
Her next inquiry caused him discomfort but he didn’t falter when he answered, “I... uh... usually tend to do my shopping at convenience stores... unfortunately,” he paused, “they’re open all hours of the day so why not?” A bitter laugh punctuated the end of his statement. Sleepless days and nights gave him all the time in the world, but he hated venturing out into the rapid-paced world of daytime Seoul.
“Do you work around here, then?” He continued, but: “Ah! No, that must be rude of me. You don’t have to answer that. What have you been busying yourself with, then?”

Deep brown oculars sweep across her face, obsidian lashes flickering with each motion of the eyes before he lowers his head slightly and reluctantly chokes out a laugh before a wide grin spreads across his features, dimples reaching their highest point in his cheeks.
“You’re talented,” laughter seeps into his words as he stares at the signature gracing the album she had hastily pushed into his face, “Not many people are capable of making me the fool.” He hands the album back to her, shaking his head. The fervor she demonstrated was nearly catching but he found himself incapable of comprehending the reason behind her delight.
“I’m surprised he was so flippant with his time. Regardless… -” He pauses, faltering. He wants to say more to her, tell her she is capable of real music and that her time is so much more precious than her idol’s, but he doesn’t. Let the girl have her fun.
Instead, he lightly raps his knuckles on the counter, “How about you get me that americano now instead of that I-told-you-so?”
psa; im the kind of roleplayer that’s more than willing to start in the smack dab middle of a relationship and then talk about their connections and history later because it’s fun to throw my muse(s) into a random situation and watch their dumb ass work their way out of it.
