Damn straight you’re full of yourself, you have every right to be. Despite that, you don’t interrupt him while he’s talking and nod every few seconds to let him know that yeah you’re listening. It might be a bit reluctant but you’re listening nonetheless. You wonder if the emperor chose you for a reason or if you’re really one of the only trolls in this place qualified for a job like this. Either way it’s a stroke to your already inflated ego and honestly it doesn’t sound like a bad deal, “Okay babe, I’ll bite. How much will I be getting paid for this little opportunity and how long is the gig for?” you have so many questions, but you doubt asking this guy would be a good idea since you’re apparently going to be seeing the big boss himself soon anyway, "aand are you taking me to see him or do I have to find my own way?"

You push the door open and turn back to him, holding it open so he can leave the room with you. "I'll take ya. Think of me as your personal grubsitter. How old even are you again?" You lead him down a hallway, then out the main doors into the courtyard after putting a code into the door. It's only a short walk down to the front entrance of the main palace and you input another code there, then swipe a card. The door beeps and you enter, pulling out your phone to figure out where Solace is at. "Mn, we'll wait for him here."
You step into the place, wait for him to get done talking to whoever, then follow the guy into some room. You would lean up against the wall like the cool kid you are, but your bat is on your back and you aren’t fond of having nails sink into your skin. You really need to get a less dangerous weapon. You pull your hood back and shake out your hair before glancing at the other with a raised brow, “Seriously? He wants to promote me? Okay tell me something,” you place your palm against your cheek and rock back on your heels, "why the fuck should I accept something like this if I know it’ll only be temporary and I will be back on recon duty in a certain period of time?"
You give the kid an unimpressed half smile. He's a little full of himself if he thinks he can just turn down something like this like it's nothing. "You're aware'a the situation his majesty's got 'imself into. Obviously. I'm on bodyguard duty, as I'm pretty sure I mentioned. However you can't just have one guard. Especially 'cause his highness likes to stay up through th'night oftentimes." You roll your shoulders back and tilt your head at him. "If you caught my drift 'majesty wants you on bodyguard duty. You can discuss the details wi' him. I'll take it he'll need to brief you. S'not really my place." You shrug and hold your hands up. "You don't have'ta accept but it's a good opportunity. You get paid for whenever you're s'posed ta be workin'. So if he stays in all day or goes somewhere safe where you're not needed you just have'ta be on standby and that's it."
You’re not sure what the fuck you did or if you’re even in trouble but you can’t help but mentally apologize to the vendor you stole from during recon work. Maybe if you say you’re sorry, the universe will let you off with a warning. To be fair, it was after you fought a couple of honkers. You were starving. You can’t assume anything, for all you know this could just be another job to keep the emperor dude safe. In case of that, you pull your uniform jacket over your t-shirt, throw the hood up, grab your bat then make your way to headquarters where you assume fins will be.
Everything you say seems to come across like you're mad or serious. It really affects your personal life. You are indeed waiting for him at headquarters, leant up against a wall talking to someone about something or other that you don't actually care about just to pass time. When he gets there you wave at him, tell the dude you're chatting with that you'll finish up the conversation later (as if) and head over to him. You nod your head in greeting and gesture him to follow you to a quiet room off to the side. "Boss wants to- promote you, temporarily. If you're up for it." You close the door behind you both and turn to face him.
You wave him off and nod your head sarcastically. "Yeah yeah. He’ll be fine. Stop worrying. Even if he can’t find shit out then I’m sure you’ll keep me perfectly safe."
You turn, but then stop and look back over your shoulder. "Actually. If you're so confident'a his abilities maybe you should hire him as your other bodyguard. He is close range and if I'm correct in thinkin' he's got specialty with highbloods." You give him a sly little side smile and tilt your head. "Course it could always be an opportunity for you two to talk shit out." With that you turn and leave. You're obviously bothering him in his free time.
You can’t even help the condescending chuckle. "Are you fucking with me right now?? If they did they’d have a bad time. I mean I’m no expert in Pollux’s psyche but I’m pretty sure he’d prefer the security I can offer him over anything anyone else would offer. And I think his dad would be pretty pissed off? I’m like ninety nine point nine nine percent sure he doesn’t really hate his dad he just hated being there etcetera. He has literally no reason to want to kill me for his own benefits as far as I’m aware, and my ‘brother’ would not be pleased at all.” You turn over and rest your chin on your hands. "Maybe I’ll ask him why he ran away one day. But then again, maybe we’ll never have a legit conversation in our entire lives. Who knows." You rest one arm out in front of you and give him a pointed look. "So was that all or was there something specific you wanted to know or whatever?"
"I see. Well if you're so confident then I suppose everythin's fine." You bow your head and gesture to the door. "I was merely wonderin' how confident you were'a his abilities in completin' his task. Else we'd have'ta find someone else."
You outright groan at him and just fucking.. Lay down on the couch. Why is he talking to you like a wiggler. "Yes?? I mean he’s not going to get killed while just digging up some info. If anything he’d be high on the list of people contracted to kill me I guess. Since you know, he abandoned his place on the throne or whatever and I’m, now, his dad’s matesprit.”
You raise an eyebrow and your fins flicker. "You don't think someone would do that, would they?"

That he’ll find out the thing? Sure I guess. If not it’s no big deal? I tried looking shit up online but there’s nothing. Literally nothing, like they took down any records of my past bounty. Which makes it seem like they know I’ve been keeping tabs on it, which they would be stupid to think I wasn’t I guess?? But it’s whatever dude."
"Moreover do you think he'll come back unharmed, but that as well I suppose." You shrug lightly and fold your arms over your chest. "I trust you have good faith in his collection skills."
You glance over and make a vague hand gesture, expression uninterested. "That doesn’t really narrow it down dude. What boy?"
You roll your eyes at how unprofessional he's being, but then you suppose this is his personal time. Even though he never finished his paperwork. "Pollux. You do suppose he can meet the requirements we set out, yes?"
