look, I love queer baiting as much as the next gal but sometimes the baiting of it all is so intense it just makes the writing bad. Like there is a heterosexual explanation for this, but its a really bad explanation.
exhibit a: 3x05 "You know how much Christopher misses you?" would make more sense delivered to a cheating spouse than a pseudo-god father.
exhibit b: 4x14. Buck starting to climb without cover when there's a sniper makes sense from a, 'better me than anyone else' standpoint. Continuing to climb after he sees the scope flare? Without alerting anyone? Heroics is just an awful explanation as compared with intense survivors guilt.
Also. B.5: I have non-familial god parents. There is no world in which the average answer to, "it would have been better for this kid if his god parent got mortally wounded rather than his parent," is not, "yes, obviously." The straight reading of Buck as an "it takes a village" close family friend just makes for a completely bizzare scene.
exhibit c: 5x11 "you need to move on, buck. I have." bestie what the fuck
