The new pairings for Wings/ âBS&Tâ MV (1) #Yoonmin

Jimin is associated with: a sling, the crouching Venus, an apple, a blindfold.
Suga is associated with: a bicycle (similar to the one JK, the youngest of them all, was riding in Fire), the crouching Venus (? not sure if itâs also linked to him or only to Jimin), a blindfold (heâs got rings too, but Iâll do them in a separate post as I think they are important but not related to Jimin).
They are the first ones to enter the gallery. They are being playful with each other, like kids.Â
And indeed, the sling and bicycle can be interpreted as childrenâs possessions. The sling is a motif associated with the lost boys of Neverland (see HYYH) and the bicycle is, as opposed to cars made for adults, the means of transportation that kids can only ride. On that note, cars in HYYH were a recurring symbol for adulthood (Trilogy + Fire).Â
This is consistent with both Jimin and Sugaâs state of mind in HYYH: they were the most in denial of their own adulthood/loss of innocence at the time.
Could Suga and Yoonmin be the twins from Neverland here? I already identified Suga and JK as the twins for HYYH and it worked perfectly, so I doubt it* (theyâre still romantic though -- because they are not real twins, you see. Thatâs all metaphorical -- gay and incestuous, thatâd really be too much for just one Korea. This isnât a fanfic).
Venus is of course the goddess of love and fertility, beauty and regeneration, but she is also able to harmonise human instincts and emotions (and both Suga and Jimin were a bit over the top in HYYH, remember).
In her myths, she rules over the heart of all humans and can either decide to save people from their trials and ordeals, or to push them into adventurous love affairs that usually end up badly (Helen of Troy, Medea, Phaedra...): the hardships, ordeals and trials are what every sincere and earnest seeker must go through.
It is to note here that JK was identified as Cupid, son of Venus, in the concept photoshoot for HYYH (see Big Hitâs Instagram), and Psycheâs true love, identified then as Jin. JK also was, as the maknea, the personification of youth itself and so therefore, Jinâs true love (youth was his true love, not JK. Statistically speaking, Iâm sorry but not everybody can be gay here).Â
So to make this story short, Psyche and Cupidâs love serves as an allegory for the struggle and heartache the human soul must go through in order to reach true bliss, which was imposed on Psyche by none other than Venus. But thereâs an happy ending to this with Venus, Psyche, and Cupid all making peace with each other in the name of love (if you want to know more on that, just click here).
Note here that the fatherâs theme in HYYH was central, and that now the motherâs theme is central in Wings, with the reference to Demianâs Eva, or Eve, the mother of all humanity, in the short films. The âMamaâ theme is mainly linked to J-Hope though, whom I will cover too later. But J-Hope was paired up with Jimin in HYYH, so thereâs an obvious link here and I suspect that the reference to Venus has more to do with her role as a mother then.Â
The blindfold doesnât look like a kidâs possession in the context of this MV, Iâll agree, but itâs not a kinky prop either. It just looks like it for fan service  so the Yoonmin shippers can go crazy denying what has been obvious to everyone else all along because thereâs of course nothing more erotic than being tied to a door. Anyway., but the purpose of the blindfold here is actually to blind yourself of whatâs going on, because you donât want to see. Or at least, Suga doesnât want Jimin to see, as heâs been contemplating bitting into the apple of knowledge, and prevents him of doing so (in HYYH, Suga is portrayed as especially regretful of having lost his innocence).Â
BTS MV - Kids being kids...
So Suga blindfolds Jimin, with the ribbon of the prop tied to the door V just went through and that Jimin should probably not open, Iâm guessing, for V has jumped off the balcony, into the unknown world, and heâs now a fallen angel.Â
But because all the boys are one and the same person, they all have lost their innocence together as a consequence of Vâs fall. Both Suga and Jimin are stuck in denial of what they now are though, hence the blindfold game. But of course, whatâs done is done and soon Jimin will realise that, and untie the fold from his own eyes to see.Â
What happens to Suga is not as clear though. Heâs acting like he already knows, like he already has bitten into the fruit of knowledge and wants to protect Jimin from losing his innocence too (that was already my theory after the teaser, actually). And indeed, when Suga raps his part he actually is surrounded by the smoke coming from Rapmon and Kookâs room (although I didnât know you could smoke absinthe, it is absinthe and you can read about what it means in the context of the MV here). I think thatâs a sign he has been corrupted by Kook knowledge too, though his personal denial is not illustrated.Â
So, thatâs it for Yoonmin. Iâll probably update this later when Iâll get some ah! moments while doing the other pairings.
*But 2 things make me suspicious though: the sling, a weapon used by one of the twins in the Peter Pan animation, and the Venus motif behind Jimin. What if in this new pairing, Jimin was Cupid instead of Kookie? (thatâs a stretch but that could make him Sugaâs twin, somehow).
