once a girl reported me to an administrator at school bc i was breaking dresscode and she didnt like me. so i pushed her down the stairs. i just kept walking and i dont think she saw me and i never got caught. i know she got very seriously injured and they had to call an ambulance and she transferred schools bc she knew SOMEONE pushed her and she didnt feel safe. ive never regretted it. its been years since i graduated and im on mood stabilizers now, but sometimes when someone is testing my patience i calm myself down by thinking about how good it felt to snap once and how i cant do that again bc i would go to prison probably

I KNOW people find talking through movies to be annoying and I've been in situations where it has been annoying BUT it is SO FUN to talk ABOUT what's happening in the movie while it's happening. Making jokes about the main characters hair or smth. Seeing a moving with someone should be about SHARING the experience with them!! I can watch a movie by myself in my room if I want!!! Watching with a friend means I want to watch WITH them!!

Because neutral colours are easier to sell because they project no personality. Seriously. That's why.

House designers did that for selling, people mistook show homes blank templates for ideal homes and took it home to make their houses bland too.

Mcdonalds does it because those shops don't last that long, and having a neutral, personality-less building is easier to resell (That's also why pizza hut buildings don't have those fancy roofs anymore- profit over personality. Most other restraunts won't want to buy a pizza hut roof.)

For cars, it's harder to sell a car that's red than one that's grey; some people hate red, most people are "fine i guess" with grey, and repainting your own car properly is too expensive for most people to bother with.

Adding colour costs extra nowadays, nobody has the money for it. Grey is a good carpet colour because it means an old or dirty or stained carpet usually looks the same grey compared to a white or a red or a blue. Patterns have personality, personality is harder to sell because statistically some people won't like it, wheras grey is boring enough that nobody hates it.

It is literally all just about making the most money, and that happens to be easiest to do by making things grey. Companies don't care about how much joy they strip out of the world, just how much money they can slip into their ever-fattening pockets.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again but it is absolutely an example of civilizational inadequacy that only deaf people know ASL

My family went holiday SCUBA diving once, and a couple of Deaf guys were in the group. I was really little and I spent most of the briefing overcome with the realization that while the rest of us were going to have regulators in our mouths and be underwater fairly soon, they were going to be able to do all the same stuff and keep talking.

The only reason some form of sign language is not a standard skill is ableism, as far as I can tell.

Update: you guys this is an amazing resource for learning asl. Bill Vicars is an incredible teacher. His videos are of him teaching a student in a classroom, using the learned vocabulary to have conversations.

Not only is the conversation format immersive and helpful for learning the grammar, but the students make common mistakes which he corrects, mistakes I wouldn’t have otherwise know I was making.

He also emphasizes learning ASL in the way it’s actually used by the Deaf community and not the rigid structure that some ASL teachers impose in their classrooms

His lesson plans include learning about the Deaf community, which is an important aspect of learning ASL. Knowing how to communicate in ASL without the knowledge of the culture behind it leaves out a lot of nuances and explanations for the way ASL is.

Lastly, his lessons are just a lot of fun to watch. He is patient, entertaining, and funny. This good natured enthusiasm is contagious and learning feels like a privilege and not a chore
