“ I don’t know why, but every now and again in my life, for no reason at all, I need you. ”
Sobbing because of this quote from the end of the movie. Sarah is getting rid of all of her toys (toys that represent the labyrinth) after her adventure, and she’s saying that every now and again, she needs that back. She needs her childhood back. And we can ALL attest to that. Every now and again, we all get nostalgic for another time. Another person. Another feeling. We seek it out, but nothing ever really makes us feel the way that certain thing made us feel.
The Labyrinth as a whole is an allegory for young girls going through puberty, or “losing their childhood”. The movie starts, and already we know that Sarah is obsessed with a book called “The Labyrinth”. The whole movie is her going through this scary place, with scary people, unable to control what’s going around around her and the whole time there’s a theme of her saying “it’s not fair”. Because it’s not. Growing up just isn’t fair. Through those unfair experiences, she grows. But even though she’s grown, she still misses when it was all just a game. Sobbing
to wear this dress… UGH it would be a dream come true. 100% this is one of the most gorgeous dresses in film and she looks so pretty AHHH
