So the rule is you can’t be successful without going to college, but yet I see all of these exceptions to the rule around me. I’m just not 100% convinced I’m not also an exception. I have no motivation to continue college. I absolutely hate it. My parents are saying that I need to just push through it, but how do you convince yourself to finish something you don’t want to?Â
It’s like being incredibly full but you still have food left on your plate and your parents are forcing you to finish it. It’s not that you don’t want to, it’s that all of a sudden it’s hard to chew and almost impossible to swallow. You keep trying your hardest but now you’re choking on it.Â
I’m not wanting to settle. I don’t want to get a regular job, I don’t want to have a regular life. I’m not wanting to get married or have kids. So why would I go about this in a normal way? It doesn’t make sense for me to be like everyone else and go through college. That isn’t going to get me anywhere I want to be.Â
What it is going to do is waste my youth. It is going to waste my money. It is going to put me into debt. Even with the scholarship I have of two years tuition free I will still have two years of student loans when I transfer. I seriously just laugh my ass off when my parents are like, “You’ll only have two years of student loans to pay off instead of four years! That’s awesome!” Fuck that.
I am not sure what I want to do, but I always know what I don’t want to do.Â
