SMALL is Great.
Have you ever felt useless and small when you read headlines about young people able to do great things? 16-year-old, discovered the answer to the problem of plastics, 12-year-old champion to this kind of title, youngest genius to whatever, etc... Whenever I read these, I can’t help but compare my self to them. I find myself thinking “wow, and I’m 19. What have I accomplished so far?”.
When we describe something as ‘great’, we want it to be impacting, to be significant or for it to be life-changing that it would really matter. What great can I do? we have to do these mind-blowing action, or make this gigantic change in our life that it just seems impossible for us.
Having all these in mind, just makes me think I am not that great at all. I compare myself and all the negativity comes in. I forget that we can all be great in our own different ways, I have this wrong mindset that the great things other people can do becomes my standard to myself. I limit my own potential, when in fact we all are different. We tend to forget that each of us is different.
We just have to remember we grown at different rates and for us to reach our goal of a GREAT journey , we must also consider the small step it takes to begin it.
No matter how great the journey you want to pursue in life, if you don’t take that one small step to begin greatness will just be an idea for us. At the same time, do not compare your journey to other’s you might lose focus at where you you have been and how far you have gone.
