The Hyangwonjeong (Hangul: 향원정; Hanja: 香遠亭), or Hyangwonjeong Pavilion, is a small, two-story hexagonal pavilion built around 1873 by the order of King Gojong when Geoncheonggung residence was built to the north within Gyeongbokgung Palace. The structure was built on an artificial island connected to the palace grounds by a long wooden bridge called Chwihyanggyo. The name Hyangwonjeong is loosely translated as "Pavilion of Far-Reaching Fragrance", while Chwihyanggyo is "Bridge Intoxicated with Fragrance". The structures were probably named as such because of the lotus flowers scattered in the surrounding pool. This place is the last stop of the Gyeongbokgung Palace free guided tour. This was taken at a shipyard in Brgy. Danao, Panglao. We were doing a Panglao tour and we requested if our guide, Kuya Ramel, can take us somewhere we can get a good view of the Panglao sunset. It was not easy to get here. We drove through thickets and narrow dirt roads but it was all worth it. 😍 You can't swim in this area because it is packed with sea eels and old boats. This was a 20-minute walk from the hostel we were staying in. We went there during low tide and noticed the shallow area stretched to about 1 km. It was a good place to chill and beach bum but not really ideal for swimming. (at Whites and Greens Beach Resort, Panglao Bohol)
