The vet has cleared him!!
I love boogie but can he stop waking me up three and a half hours early by talking loudly and flapping please
He shmove
God, that leg looks nasty. Have you felt along it gently, checked for any broken bones? Is there any unusual heat, swelling, redness, or discoloration? We've had a lot of ducks in our time and I can pretty confidently say that his leg is in pretty nasty shape.
If possible, maybe you could look into nearby vets who will see Ducks, get him checked out more carefully. I know that it's a scary thing, because for as durable as ducks are, they're also very fragile creatures. I really hope Boogie is okay :(
He’s been to the vet, no broken bones or fractures. Vet says it’s nerve damage that should heal (and it is! He’s moving his leg more every day but he can’t put weight on it) check my previous post it’s got a full explanation
Ah, okay!! I'm glad he's healing up well!!! He's so stinkin' cute, is he a call duck? He has the tiny rounded bill of one and he looks like a roasted marshmallow ;w;
Wishing him a swift recovery and lots of tasty treats!! And hopefully whichever of the ducks attacked him doesn't do it again. Unfortunately despite their brilliance, ducks are impressively stupid(I would know, one of my khakis got into a fistfight with a rooster) at the absolute worst of times.
Yes he’s a call duck! Not any identifiable variety tho lol
None of my ducks attacked him, our dog somehow managed to get into the yard while we had the door to the pen open and he’s a ratter.
None of our ducks actually fight each other except for the height of mating season when we split them off into groups of two that don’t fight.
Also I feel like it’s always khakis getting into bullshit
Hmm. Almost looks pied-- but he has a coloring similar to my one boy, Goat! He's not a call duck though-- I honestly don't know what he is. He might be a swedish blue? Quick edit, here's a picture of Goat. Looking at both of them, its a little uncanny how similar they look
THE DOG... god that's. That's a scary thing. It was an accident though-- and hopefully in future if he gets into the duck run again, he won't accidentally go after a ducky ;~;
Unfortunately bc I got our duckies from Tractor Supply they were all straight run, so I have too many boys that I can't get rid of because I love them too much. Once I get the yard fenced I'm going to order duck pullets online from a reputable breeder, because good lord 11 boys and 7 girls is NOT a good ratio.
The khakis give mama heart attacks but they also have decided because they're the eldest, they can do whatever they want. They've formed a cartel. They bullied one of their own, Spud, so bad I had to bring him inside and because the lil man for SOME REASON likes to instigate fight club, he's been inside ever since. He's a happy Spud though. They beat the crap out of Goat and Chippy and gang up on the others. But I've figured out that if I separate a duck from the cartel for a period of time, like keep them in the house, and then put them back with said cartel, let them briefly get their tush kicked, and then tell them Okay. Since They Are Being Jerks To You Now, You Go With The Main Ducks. They don't attack the main flock anymore. This worked with Dewdrop, and with Warrior after he had to spend a month in the house because he decided he was gonna fistfight a giant angry red rooster HGDSGHDSKHGDKS
Holy shit yeah that’s a bad ratio, you must’ve had a miserable spring. Also I too can’t shut up about my ducks completely understandable

injecting my annoying hopless birds with potion of shut the fuck up
#straight up filling them like éclairs damn
God I wish it was this easy with Boogie
Boogie got attacked by boots ):
He’s got a pretty big but shallow gash on his side and isn’t using his leg
We took him to the vet and he’s gonna get stitches and an x-ray to see if anything’s broken and we’re gonna set up a pen in my room
Don’t think boots meant to hurt him but he’s been hunting rats a lot this year and has been less gentle than he was before when he’s excited about small animals
He is very mad at me for giving him medicine.
Good news: no broken bones! There was a puncture wound that was definitely not good but luckily didn’t hit anything important.
His side is stitched up now, we’ve got a few liquid medicines to give him, and he IS eating, though not much.
He still isn’t using his leg but it doesn’t seem to be causing him pain, the vet said he probably has some nerve damage that should heal.
So all in all: not too bad for what happened! He didn’t need surgery, just stitches and antibiotics.
Also one of the vets said he was the cutest animal there that day which is lovely
Great news!! He’s started moving his leg a bit! Not much but it’s definitely intentional (he’s been trying to kick me)

I have developed a mild allergy to my anti itch cream. It now makes me MORE itchy. I hate everything.
so glad i happened across your blog!! i love ducks too! my whole family thinks (has thought for years) that i'm doing a joke or a bit or something but i just genuinely love looking at them and thinking about them. they're so great. i have a display cabinet inherited from my grandma and one entire shelf of it is full of Tiny Ducks. quack 🦆
I’m glad you’re here! And yeah I agree thinking about and looking at ducks is delightful. I will never get tired of it. Quack 🦆
Apologies for the lack of posts, but it’s called inconsistent for a reason. Have Runt!
