Bobo’s body was trembling, thrashing and trying to push at whatever was making him feel so terrified in his sleep. Though his eyes were closed, tears were pooling down his face and mixing with his face paint, messing it up as he whined and thrashed left and right on the bed.

He cried and begged, pleading at whatever was in his dream…or nightmare, to just go away. But it didn’t, and he was panicking and trying his hardest to wake up.

His dreams had ever gotten this bad, even after a rough drink binge.

Something was very wrong.

Espresso twitched in his sleep , abruptly awoken by a violent thrashing next to him on the bed. He rubbed an eye and mumbled something under his breath , unaware of the state of his friend next to him in the dim light.

Click.

He pulled on the switch of the lamp , casting a warm glow on Espresso’s hard features and the room within. He yawned and turned over to see Bobo’s terror stricken face, his eyes widening in concern. He immediately went and took a cold palm to Bobo’s hot face , wiping the tears from his skin. As much as he tried not to wipe the paint off , he couldn’t help but smudge some red on his cheeks.

Now so close to his face , Espresso could feel the french engine’s labored breathing piercing his skin , and his obtuse whimpers and mumbling playing tricks in his mind. He needed to help his friend, now.

He gently took ahold of Bobo’s shoulder’s shaking them with just enough force to rattle the engine awake but not jolt him from his sleep.

“ Hey , compagno , wake up .. ! ” He whispered , though low and gravel , thick with sleep.

Bobo’s whimpering only grew louder, and he shook his head and tried to pull away like the touch of his friend was burning him. It hurt, it hurt so much. Though it took only a few minutes, to Bobo it felt like hours, like he was stuck in this horrific state of mind before he had to crawl out. Fight and get away from it as fast as he could.

The French’s eyes shot up, wide and bloodshot, the tears continued to fall as he exhaled and exhaled with this guttural groan of pure anguish. His pupils shrunk and the light shining from the side of his friend’s bed had made him thought he really wasn’t awake.

He wanted to believe it was his friend, but his mind was fuzzy and filled with thoughts that made him want to scream and cry like he was just that of a trainlet again. He didn’t see his friend though, he could only see that…that monster, grinning at him and whispering deranged and hurtful words.

He shook his head once more, trying to push the monster away, screaming his nonexistent lungs put so loud and guttural it was clear to see he wasn’t right in the head. So afraid and trembling like a leave, he sobbed, still trying to claw at his friend's hands to let him go.

Espresso didn’t let up. He couldn’t , not for his friends in this state. His hands were shoved away from Bobo’s shoulders , but that merely resulted in his taking his hands up to Bobo’s face and holding him to his gaze. Though , as the engine continued to shake and wailed to try free himself , Espresso’s gaze softened. His heart churned in his chest. He felt so bad.

“ Hey. “ He bit out.

“ Guardami. Look. At. Me. “ He tried to steady Bobo , but wasnt working. More incoherent mumblings came out of the french engine.

Espresso looked away for a brief moment, sniffling and taking a breath before bringing his gaze back to the engine. He needed to be there for him, not for the engine to see a blundering mess infront of him while he was already in that state.

“ Hey , hey .. Come here , va bene. “ He then said in a hushed whisper , taking his hands from Bobo’s face and wrapping one around his back and the other to cradle his head , pulling the engine into an embrace. This would work , right ? Bobo liked physical touch , so hopefully this would work.

Espresso whispered some more reassuring words to try and calm the engine , rubbing his back soothingly with his large palm.

“ I’m right here , Bobo. You’re with me. You’re safe. “ He muttered , again and again.

Bobo tried so hard, he did, but that image kept repeating, over and over until his eyes closed once more. His breathing getting uneven and fast as he tried to understand his friends words. Trying to listen and follow. He cracked open his eyes once more, tears now staining his now messy paint as he heaved and bit his lip.

He was too emotional, and when he got emotional he could never stop crying. “ Es—..Espresso..” He rasped out, trying to look back at the figure in front of him. Though he knew it wasn’t his friend, the voice was vaguely similar, and nodded deliriously as he choked on another sob.

The voice continued on, comforting him, reassuring him. It wasn’t like the ‘monster’ that was terrorizing him only a few minutes before. Though, while his eyes were full of tears, he focused, and he could feel his chest tighten with realization of who was now in its place.

His friend, his…The Italian was here. In front of him, holding him close. So close. The French engines crying softened, but he whimpered and whined and his trembling hands gripped onto the others chest plating. Trying so hard to bring him closer, and before he knew it he was hugging the Italian so tightly he might’ve squished him.

Espresso didn’t mind the tight embrace , it was a reminder that Bobo was still there.

The Italian rested his head on Bobo’s shoulder , inhaling and exhaling in a soft rythym.

“ Just breathe .. “ He whispered, prompting the engine to breathe with him.

“ Stay with me , va bene? I’m right here. I’m not leaving, Bobo. “

Espresso rested his chin on Bobo’s shoulder after a moment , closing his eyes to just take everything in , and try to groubd himself so he didn’t fall back asleep. He didn’t know why he didn it , though .. it was jusr comfortable. Peaceful. It was id the whole world had melted away when Bobo held him , until it was just the two in them in a synchronous harmony.

Espresso wanted to question what was going on in that frazzled mind of Bobo’s , what haunted him in the dead of night. Maybe .. in a slight sliver of hope .. he could be the light that guided him in the dark , protecting him from the demons that clung to him like a wildfire .. but he didn’t speak , just continued to hold Bobo there , like he wasn’t ready to let go — which he wasn’t .. not just yet.

“ You can speak when you’re ready , take your time. I’m right here. “

Bobo’s whimpers softened, until only his sniffling could be heard as he tried to calm himself down , though his eyes were as wide as saucers, and his whole body trembled. He nodded, trying to pant in time with Espresso’s own calming deep breaths. "’Spresso.." He mumbled incoherently, whimpering softly into the others chest.

The nightmares, they still flooded his mind every little breath he took, but tried to fight it off, tried to fight the overwhelming tightness in his chest, but everytime he closed his eyes he’d get these…flashes. And he’d jolt before panting.

So there wasn’t any point in closing his eyes right now.

Bobo nodded after a few moments, trying not to cry once more as he nuzzled into the others neck. "Je suis désolé.." He mumbled deliriously, trying to find his mind and go back to himself, but he couldn’t. "I..—" He paused, before clenching his eyes shut, and biting the corner of his bottom lip, almost to the point it began to bleed.

"Please, do not let go." He pleaded, his voice unusually soft and meek.

Espresso didn’t intend to. He’d stay with the engine as long as wanted — as long as he needed.

“ There’s no need to be afraid , compagno , you can sleep if don’t want to talk. It’s okay , I assure you. “ He said as he lifted his head from Bobo’s shoulder.

“ I .. “ He stopped as he looked in Bobo’s eyes. Those eyes as soft as his soul itself. .. He couldn’t say it.

He shook his head and started over , “ You’re a great friend Bobo .. to me .. and — “

Starlight , what the hell was he saying ? This was nonsense to the frightened engine.

“ Nevermind. Just .. sleep. “ He muttered.

“ You can always stay .. in my arms .. if that is what you wish , Compagno. “ Espresso said with a slight chuckle.

Bobo shook his head. Sleep? No, he couldn’t sleep now, not ever for tonight. The thought of sleep, after having such a visceral nightmare had gotten him paranoid. "Non!" He shook his head, before covering his mouth and just deciding to shake his head.

He wanted to say something, anything, but the Italian’s ramblings made him speechless. Bobo blinked, pouting softly before sighing, a deep one from within his chest. Maybe it hadn’t been the best time, but he couldn’t really stop himself. "Espresso..i—" He huffed, his face flushing before he shook his head,

"I don’t want sleep. Not now." He finally managed to say, and let his hands trail down to the Settebello’s hands. Giving them a light squeeze. "I—" He stared, before grumbling out loud. "I..like being in your arms." Bobo confessed, giving them an other a sheepish shrug. He loved being in the other arms, but he was too afraid to admit it.

“ Then stay in them , I don’t mind. Truly. “ The words slipped out of his mouth before he realized what he was saying , though this time he his recovery wasn’t as graceful. He let out a nervous chuckle , spitting out a curse under his breath.

Espresso sat there for a brief moment , unsure of what to do or say. He blinked , feeling heat rise to his cheeks — though not of embarrassment or excitement. It stung in his throat and the back of his eyelids. It hurt Espresso to see Bobo like this .. still , and he would give anything to just ..

Before he could even finish the thought he was thinking , his lips met the french engine’s forehead , placing a delicate kiss on the skin — out of mere comfort , or course. He squeezed his eyes shut as he did so , to keep the tears at bay , though it seemed to cause a choked whimper to leave his throat as his lips disconnected from the warm skin.

He squeezed Bobo , pulling him in and burying his face into his neck , silently cursing himself as a stream of salty tears pierced his skin. It was if he was a trainlet again seeking the comfort of a stuffed friend.

“ You’re insufferable , cazzone .. “ He tried to say serious , though couldn’t help but chuckle at his own joke. Starlight , maybe he was the one being insufferable instead.

“ You know that , right ? “

Yeah , Espresso was definitely projecting.

Bobo nodded slow, biting the corner or his bottom lip before indulging in the silence. He glanced down and tried to calm the swarming thoughts in his head, all zoning back to making sure the Italian knew how much he loved him. He couldn’t do that though, it might be way to much for the both of them.

But he could imagine it right?

The TGV gasped softly, before fluttering his eyes and glancing up at the other with round eyes. That kiss, he felt like he was dreaming again. Bobo felt like his eyes widened even more as Espresso let out a whimper, and he felt his core drop to his stomach. "Oui.." He rasped a moment later, before he started to feel horrible.

The TGV shook his head with a pout, and cupped the others cheeks. "Do not cry, homme italien.." He cooed, playful, but serious as his voice pitched to comforting, and almost…loving manner? Like the Italian in front of him, was like his everything. And Starlight, he was. Bobo wiped a tear from Espresso’s face before leaning in and giving the faded tear a soft light kiss, before going to the other side and doing the same.

If another tear appeared, he’d make sure to kiss it away.

A breath fell from Espresso’s lips as Bobo kissed his cheek after wiping the tear. When Bobo then went to his other cheek and did the same , Espresso pulled away afterwards , his brown eyes wide in slight shock. His brain seemed to have been lagging as he started at Bobo’s face. He let out a nervous chuckle as more tears fell from his eyes.

Espresso shook his head , in disbelief of all that occurred in the last 15 minutes.

It then seemed as if the TGV got scared , retreating in on himself and backing away on the bed. Quicjly , Espresso reached out to grab his hand , stopping him in his tracks.

“ Hey , wait a minute .. “ Espresso choked out , but stopping mid sentence. It seemed as if his feelings were enveloping him , strangling him for air , leaving him without the words to tell the other how he felt.

Espresso just squeezed the other’s hand , shaking his head once more.

“ You idiot .. “ He muttered once more before taking his hand off of Bobo’s and cupping it to Bobo’s cheek , leaning into the TGV and meeting his lips with a soft hum.

"I’m sorry!" Bobo gasped, his chest tightened as he pulled away, shaking his head and apologizing again. "désolé.." He mumbled. Starlight, why was he like this? He couldn’t keep his emotions in check, and ended up hurting Espresso, like he hasn’t hurt anyone else in his life.

Now, all the thoughts trailed back to him, and he sniffed and he glanced down, not acknowledging the Italian’s as he moved over to get off the edge of the bed. He didn’t want to hurt Espresso more. Though, as Espresso took his hand and pulled him back, his eyes widened.

He wanted to say something, to tell him anything, mostly about how he felt, but he blinked in surprise. Hand on his cheek, the look in Espresso’s eyes, and the kiss. That kiss. He glanced down and tried to calm the swarming thoughts in his head, all zoning back to making sure the Italian knew how much he loved him. Bobo’s body was trembling, thrashing and trying to push at whatever was making him feel so terrified in his sleep. Though his eyes were closed, tears were pooling down his face and mixing with his face paint, messing it up as he whined and thrashed left and right on the bed.

He cried and begged, pleading at whatever was in his dream…or nightmare, to just go away. But it didn’t, and he was panicking and trying his hardest to wake up.

His dreams had ever gotten this bad, even after a rough drink binge.

He pulled on the switch of the lamp , casting a warm glow on Espresso’s hard features and the room within. He yawned and turned over to see Bobo’s terror stricken face, his eyes widening in concern. He immediately went and took a cold palm to Bobo’s hot face , wiping the tears from his skin. As much as he tried not to wipe the paint off , he couldn’t help but smudge some red on his cheeks.

Now so close to his face , Espresso could feel the french engine’s labored breathing piercing his skin , and his obtuse whimpers and mumbling playing tricks in his mind. He needed to help his friend, now.

He gently took ahold of Bobo’s shoulder’s shaking them with just enough force to rattle the engine awake but not jolt him from his sleep.

“ Hey , compagno , wake up .. ! ” He whispered , though low and gravel , thick with sleep.

He pants out, running a hand through his messy curls before raising his eyebrows at her. "Though, I do not think I ‘ave seen you around these tracks, non?"

Hanae stiffened under the gesture, her breath caught in her throat. She was fine, of course, nothing would happen to her and she knew better.

But the brief sense of panic can't be helped, just hidden better, she supposed. She's very quick to compose herself before placing a hand against his chest and gives a pat.

"Ma douceur, aren't you forward and incredibly brave!" She laughed softly, somewhat strained. "Don't you think it's too soon to be making home invitations?"

Bobo hummed, the shrugged. Maybe he was getting too ahead of himself. "Oui.." He trailed off, letting go of her hip before glancing down at the floor and rolling back to provide her some space. His face flushing even more as he nodded and kicked some pebbles with his stops.

"Ah, désolé..Je suis juste excité quand je pense à boire." He giggled quietly, and shrugged sheepishly once more. It was true, he gets..excitable when drinking is involved, but he had just met this electric, and he could tell she was tense. "We could..ehm.." He paused for a moment. "Head to a…hmm..a bar." He shrugged.

Hanae humms, fist clenching and unclenching in an effort to soothe herself. Compose yourself, Hanae.

"Nothing wrong, with a little excitement. Was just surprised, is all." She smiles sweetly, tilting her head and moving her hands to keep her hands behind her back.

The French engine, who was currently cringing at himself, the looked up and let out a soft snort. "Chère..no need to do that.." Bobo waves his hand dismissively, snorting once before turning away and letting Hanae grip onto his couplers. Then, Bobo pauses in thought, his eyebrows furrowing for a moment before he turns his head to her.

"Très bien.." He mumbled, giving her a crooked but playful grin before beginning to skate onwards. "There is this truly amazing bar." He begins to ramble, showing his excitement before giggling and humming to himself. "You will like it." He winks.

The way she spoke French was starting to make him feel giddy, and slight blush had started to coat his cheeks rather obviously. He was glad he was resting his skates after the race, or else this would’ve been a disaster.

"Alors..I was thinking of going for a drink." Bobo sighs, stretching his arms and letting his muscles clench and unclench with a soft groan, before he took hold of his racing helmet and nodded towards her. "tu aimerais nous rejoindre? We could ‘ave some..fun." He snorted.

"Ah, je ne sais pas... Depends on what is qualifying for fun, chérie."

Either way, the answer is actually a 'yes'. This was the rare occasion in which she really didn't have to rush around to do paperwork (she left ghalager to that, all things considered).

"I am not turning you down on the offer, though. All hard work gets rewarded, after all. Right?"
