every single time i have a conversation with my mother regarding the state of the USA’s relationship to police violence and overt use of unnecessary force I have to remind her about all of it.

She eats up the concept that the police are there to protect the populace and seems blind to anything else. Every time I bring up an example that refutes it she just notes it down as an exception to her rule rather than realizing that it’s the norm. She’s usually such a logical thinker, that I can get through to her with straightforward arguments, and I just don’t know how I can intone to her that we live in a police state only barely hidden behind a curtain -- a curtain that’s being torn to shreds.

Current Project Producer: “we have a deadline for all the visual art pieces of this project coming up mid next week, can you finish everything by then?”

Me, who has been hating every second of coding, technical jiggering, other backend pieces of the project I’ve been forced to work on because of how small our team is, and has a degree in the visual art part of the project: “If I focus 100% on the visual art pieces, yes I can finish them by Wednesday.”

found out that having a dedicated workspace (aka office) is like, super helpful and conducive to actually getting shit done

well, that was a good first installment in the series.

got me interested in the plot, lore, and characters, introduced a lot of great mechanics (summoning was under utilized, but good; Barret’s gunfire to clear rubble was nice, kinda sad that Tifa & Aerith didn’t have a unique thing like that)

Deffo interested in seeing if they do anything more with Red 13, since he was only in the lat two chapters; excited that the events of Crisis Core are probably in the next game (I hope, damn I really love Cloud’s backstory)

Really praying that future installments dont get stuck in development hell because this was a very good game

my boss asked everyone what their guilty pleasure were and I, being a fucking nut, said that I didn’t have any because I shouldn’t feel guilty about things that I love, which was mostly true, I’m not gonna feel bad about doing something taht I enjoy, that’s just dumb, but I do have a hidden love that I just. don’t tell anyone about, because it’s esoteric and no one would give a shit anyways.

Super Mario 64 speeedruns. Not playing, fuck that’d be hard. just. watching them. keeping up with the current world record. Recently Akki (japanese speedrunner) broke 1/2 a second under 15 mins and its just such a good run, even with a few mistakes in the last level.

Seeing those ledge grabs makes me think that someone could run it better, which is also exciting

has been getting obvious headaches throughout the last... what? 3, 4 days? This game’s timeline is pretty tight... that have been clearly getting worse, and everyone around him just accepts “I’m fine” even tohugh he’s clearly not

forcing the protags through a children’s museum that lays out the common sense of the world, this is great

hopefully I can show my coworkers why i decided to go lo-poly when they see that I have a forest with over 300 trees in it, and AWS Sumerian doesn’t support object instancing, so they’re all rendered as individual objects!

I assume that it’s because cloud’s a SOLDIER that he doesnt want to hug anyone, like, enhanced strength and shit, and then the first time he hugs Tifa she says “you’re hurting me,” which i don’t think is great for his future hugging potential

just over 20 hours in, just started chapter 12. i should probably not do another 10 hour gaming session, but tbh I just wanna finish the game so if that takes me another 10 hours? that’s fine too.

ff7 glitched out and aerith is running in a circle, tifa is staring at a wall, the cutscene for the next progression isn’t starting, and I can’t save because hitting the menu button just pauses the game, doens’t bring me into the mnu

and the practice session did nothing to tell me how bad that was going to be, since the practice is in a room with stable lighting and fairly simple camera moves
