Hello!
Welcome, from the Academy! I’m Joe Turner, the Director of Residential and Student Affairs. We are thrilled to see that you have expressed interest in the Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics, and Humanities!
The Academy provides Indiana’s best and brightest students with the opportunity to gain a true college preparatory experience. At the Academy, education consists of more than a high quality classroom experience alone. Academy education also involves responsible citizenship, personal enrichment, participation in the campus and community living process, and the development of a lifelong relationship with ideas and people. Academy students are celebrated for their intellect, and accepted and valued for their individual personalities.
The Residential and Student Affairs area provides a community that allows for academic pursuits, interpersonal interactions, educational opportunities and social events. We offer students a place to craft their own college preparatory experience by getting involved with activities and events outside of the classroom. This immersive environment, located on the campus of Ball State University, is intended to encourage independent living skills, cultivate life skills, and promote self-expression within the context of Academy policies and community responsibility.
We are committed to helping students thrive by increasing their engagement in activities, fostering their academic success, and creating a supportive social environment. Students can join clubs, participate in dances such as Prom and Winter Dance, take part in movie nights, open mic nights, have access to many campus resources such as library and gym facilities, and can take advantage of easy access to theaters, restaurants, shopping, etc. through free public transportation. And these are just a few examples from a broad range of activities and opportunities.
The Academy prides itself on providing a setting that encourages academic success and collaborative learning experiences. Our students have the opportunity to live in a supportive community where they can learn and connect with other students that share similar academic interests, have a passion for maximizing their creative capacity, and possess a desire to develop critical thinking skills.

Indiana Academy Students and Staff Take Action for United Way
For the second year in a row, the largest contingent of volunteers for United Way of Delaware County’s “Day of Action” on September 3 was provided by none other than the Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics and Humanities. Nearly 50 students, faculty and staff worked throughout the day at the Boys and Girls Club of Muncie, and completed virtually everything on their day’s wish list, plus a few extra jobs. Projects included landscaping and outdoor cleanup projects, interior cleaning and painting, and at the end of the day helping with the boys and girls with their homework.

Decisions Coming Soon!
Did you apply for the Priority Deadline (February 1st) and are wondering when you will get your decision? It's coming soon! I will begin sending decision notifications on Monday, March 23rd. I will continue to send them as rapidly as I can and as soon as the decisions come in. If you don't get an email on the 23rd, do not worry - it doesn't mean anything bad - I have lots of decisions to send and will do so as quickly as possible. Remember, your decision will be sent through email to the address you provided in the application. Hang in there, it won't be much longer!!
