Riley smiled, head shaking. “Come on, it’s just a block away from here.”
India walked along side the brunette in silence. How was she supposed to make conversation when she had almost no idea what this girl was like?
"I'm sorry for ditching you at the mall the other week," she nodded to herself proudly. This was better than nothing. "My friends needed me."
"I have an eye for these things," he smirked. "Trust me, you’d be just as beautiful with it off."
He smiled. Yes, he thought she was beautiful, and he wanted to make her feel beautiful.
India rolled her eyes at his remark. She was well aware he was trying to win her affections but this was far too corny for her liking.
"Believe me, I know I'm beautiful. Without makeup, I'm twice as attractive as any broad around here.. but why settle for twice when I can be ten times more?"
He chewed on his lip for a moment. “Yea, ‘specially flowers.” Nyle waited for her to call him a nerd or something. That’s what most people did..
India nodded slightly as she spoke. "I like flowers, too, I guess."
She saw how nervous the boy was, it was as though he was expecting an insulting response. Do I really seem that bad?
"What's your favourite? Mine's peonies," she grinned, hoping that with her encouragement Nyle will relax and open up more.
Tim watched her curiously. “Why do you girls wear so much makeup?” he asked. “You don’t need it, you know…You’re beautiful just the way you are.”
India looked at Tim in confusion. Why do girls wear so much makeup? How was she supposed to answer that? She had been wearing makeup ever since hitting puberty, when she was 12 years old. The thought of not having it on was peculiar. No one in this town, except her gang, knew what she looked like without all the product painted on her face.
"You've only ever seen me with it on, how would you know?"

He laughed. “Yeah, yeah,” he said, noticing her sarcasm.
She put the car in gear and began to drive towards the Dingo. Of course, the first street lights they came across just had to be on red.
As they sat in silence waiting for the signal to go, India decided to put the time to good use. She grabbed a lipstick from her purse and applied another coat, smirking at her reflection in the rear view mirror as she did so.
Cherry bit down on her tongue and dismissed the remark, she then began to turn through the pages of the textbook until she found the right section. “I have cheer at 3:30, so we don’t exactly have a lot of time.” She ruffled a hand through her hair, and tapped a pencil in the other hand against the book, “So, what are you having trouble on?”
"Algebra," India said matter-of-factly.
India had never been known for her intelligence. She could give an hour-long presentation on the difference between open-toe pumps and round-toe pumps, but anything actually academic was a whole different story. Especially algebra. The only reason she wasn't flat out failing the class was because she made a deal with the teacher. An hour or so of extra tutoring a week and he would 'forget' that she got an F on her test.
"Are you going to educate me on the subject, or are you going to spend the next half an hour playing with your hair?"
She laughed. “India.. I work at the place they’re giving the ice cream.. so yes.”
"Okay, let's go!" She said with fake enthusiasm. Damn it, India, you're trying too hard. Being nice to strangers wasn't exactly her forte.
"Wait.. I don't know where you work."
It doesn’t matter how great your shoes are if you don’t accomplish anything in them.
It was 3:00 in the afternoon, of course her “tutoree” just happened to be thirty minutes late for their algebra lesson. Cherry had been mentoring students after school in the library, since she was a Sophomore. She didn’t really mind it, overall it was worth extra credit and gave her a chance to help other people, which she always strived to do. But on the other hand, there were students who just didn’t deserve the extra help and time she was putting forward.
Cherry tapped the eraser end of her pencil on the edge of the desk and watched the clock. Soon after, she heard the doors open and turned to see who was coming in. “You’re late.” She stated, preparing her papers and textbook.
"Oh, I'm so very sorry," India rolled her eyes at her fellow red head.
Who did this girl think she was? Yes, she was her newly appointed tutor, but that was no excuse for her to be acting so high and mighty.
India sat down in a chair opposite to Cherry, smiling arrogantly. She placed her equipment (pen, pencil, ruler, sharpener, calculator, etc) one by one on the desk, taking as long as she possibly could in an attempt to annoy the girl even more.

"They’ve got all sorts of flavors. And I’m sure that their gluten free," she nodded.
"D'you want to come with me?" India asked as politely as possible.
For weeks now, Echo had been harassing her about not being 'nice enough' to others. She said that's why people were so intimidated by her. Well, wait 'till she hears about this, India thought to herself.
Tim paused a minute at the sight of the pink car. He cleared his throat.
"Uh, okay," he said, climbing in. Oh, if his friends could see him…He’d never hear the end of it, that’s for sure.
"So, you like pink, huh?" he said.
"Me? Like pink? God no, I hate it," she said sarcastically.

Nyle had no idea how he’d ended up as a groomsman at the same wedding in which India had ended up a bridesmaid (probably because it was held in his garden). He also had no idea how he had gotten out of kissing her when the rest of the groomsmen and bridesmaids had kissed for the fun of it.
All he knew is how radiant she’d looked in her dress. Now, as they sat upstairs after being kicked out of the after party once the adults started drinking, all he knew is that she looked even better than earlier. A simple kind of pretty. She’d taken off most of her makeup and dress. India currently had on a pair of skinny jeans and a sweater his mum had scrounged up (The sweater was his. The skinny jeans he had no idea about.)
Once upstairs, in his own outfit of sweats and a sweater, he had sat on the floor, and India had in front of him, putting her legs partially over his.
Currently, after asking him multiple questions, India looked him in the eyes. “You still owe me a kiss, y’know?”
The question caught him off guard. A soft pink dusted his cheeks. “Do I really hav-” She cut him off with a nod.
Nyle sighed, putting his arms around India and pulling her forward to kiss her softly. “There.”
{ This was total shit. I’m sorry. }
He nervously glanced back in the window of the garden shop, just a second too long. “Just wasting time…”
India saw the way he looked at the store and knew he wasn't 'just wasting time'. Personally, she'd never had much interest in gardening. Far too dirty a hobby, she thought.
"You like plants?"
