Korra’s smirk grew as Asami taunted her. Sliding her foot forward, Korra slowly moved into a position to throw all of the snow at her. Though, she wouldn’t go full avalanche force since it was so densely packed. “I’ll be sure to speak kindly at your funeral." With her final words said, the avatar quickly brought her arms forward, throwing all of the snow at Asami as if it was coming out of a fire hose. When all of it had landed, a pile of snow rested where the other once stood.

This was it — Asami was staring death in the face. No hope of escape, but she'd brought it upon herself.

' Still worth it. '

" Li — " She didn't get a chance to finish whatever she'd started on, the snow launched towards her at an alarming rate, and though she tried to evade it was, indeed, hopeless. Needless to say she was smothered by the chilling globs of slush, knocked flat on her backside from impact and completely covered. With an inspiring show of strength and perseverance she broke through the surface of the snow pile, casting an accusing glare to her companion who looked as smug as you could get.  " You may have won the battle, " Asami started, releasing a yelp as she nearly stumbled in her attempt to get out of the rest of the snow. After her near topple she pointed a finger to Korra, but her eyes read something far from malicious. " But the war isn't over. "

" I don't think they'll have much chance to cause trouble if they do get here, Zaofu is pretty well fortified. "

" How nice of her. " Could she have expected much else? Su adored Korra, that was no surprise. " We'd love to stay. "

"We managed to book most of them," Mako confirmed, "but enough got away that they could still be a threat. Beifong wants me to to take the lead on this one. Either track them down or set up a sting. Unfortunately, the informant who led us to the gang’s original hideout ‘mysteriously vanished’ this morning, so I’m left with no leads to follow.”

He sighed heavily and rested his head against his hand listlessly. Realizing that he hadn’t answered her question regarding his own well being, he chuckled in what he hoped was a placating manner. “I’m fine,” he assured her. “I sprained my ankle a bit falling from a rooftop, but that’s mostly healed up. It… wasn’t even very high of a rooftop.”

A deep curl of her lips and she crossed her arms over her chest. " They might try to make a break from the city now that they've been found out, especially if some of them were captured. If they have a second hideout the other members might give it away under interrogation. " Things Mako was probably more than aware of, but she was thinking aloud.

Green hues narrowed at his weak defense to his own well being — Mako could lose an arm and try to play it off as nothing. The man had too much pride (not that Asami could talk). " You're impossible, " she sighed, shaking her head, " but I'm glad to hear you're doing alright. Or mostly alright. Still, you look like you could use a pick me up. "

"Rough is an understatement," Mako groaned. "You remember that investigation I told you about? The bank robberies targeting banks used by corporations like Future? Well, as it turned out the perps were hiding out in a warehouse down in Old Town."

He rubbed his eyes. There were bags under them, wrinkled from lack of sleep. “I set a trap but it went wrong. The crooks tried to bail, and I ended up in a chase up and down the borough. I didn’t get to sleep until four AM.”

She passed a nod of acknowledgment as she listened to him speak. " Right, they've been a pain in my backside since they first showed up. " Her mouth curled distastefully and her brow pinched as Mako continued with his playback.

" Things never go how you pan them to, do they? " There's a touch of concern in her voice, features softening. " You're not hurt or anything? Did they get away? "
