We should never have let him go. There was no stopping him. Well, at least he’s only banished, not dead. Which is what we’d all be if that guard hadn’t told Odin where we’d gone. How did the guard even know? I told him. What? I told him to go to Odin after we’d left. He should be flogged for taking so long. We should never have reached Jotunheim. You told the guard?
He told the guard, how evil of him. 👀
So evil.
In Thor 1 we see Loki’s fall from “normal” levels of flaw to the beginning of madness and complexity in response to trauma that makes him rich. It’s a shame that he’s written off with such a broad brush and that complexity makes for deep and rich acts of evil and also deep and rich acts of redemption.
Tbh 😭. I did like the series but Loki’s issues are not just “I am a narcissist”. Baby boy has severe, real issues stemming from Odin’s terrible, one-sided (and probably abusive) parenting in addition to an on going identify crisis and a need to be accepted. The series kinda passed the blame from Odin and I don’t like thatttttt
So I’m not an expert, but when I was reading up on narcissism there were 2 things in particular that stuck with me:
1) Narcissism often stems from having parents who only gave their child attention when the child was performing, which I would say descibes Loki and Odin’s relationship.
2) Most mental health practisioners will say that there is no point trying to work with a narcissist since they do not see themselves as the problem. The exception is on the rare occassion that a narcissist recognizes/aknowledges they have naricissistic personality disorder and they choose to go to therapy and work on it.
So the way that I percieved the Loki series was about taking the first steps toward healing trauma. I still see Odin as the one responsible; but the reality of being a person with childood trauma is even though it may be the parents’ fault, the burden of healing and re-parenting falls on the shoulders of the grown up child.
I didn’t like the pacing of the series though. I would have liked to have proper time to explore and evolve his mindset rather than just cram it all into a single episode.
Yeah, but having a Narcissistic Personality disorder is a mental disorder classified under the DSM-5 and therefore, it can be treated with therapy. One if the techniques used is to root out the cause, i.e. his father, and come to terms with that so he can develop ways of dealing with it. It’s not a simple case of “you’re grown, so deal with it yourself”
Oh, sorry I didn’t explain myself well there.
I 100% agree with you. What I was trying to say is that all of that healing work done in therapy and re-parenting has to be done by the person affected, not that they have to just deal with it.
Often in media there are characters with parental issues, and the way it’s written the whole narrative resolution is centred around the parent acknowledging they did wrong and now eveything is better. It would be hella nice if that was all it took to heal, but it’s not. It’s not fair that parents’ behaviour can mess up their kid and then when the kid grows up they get the consolation prize of triggers, hangups, and copious amounts of therapy as a consequence of choices that weren’t even their own. That’s what I was getting at when I was lamenting about the burden of healing being on the affected person.
And the purpose to mentioning that was because the way I saw the series, the focus didn’t need to be on Odin for the trauma to still be Odin’s fault. And the focus on Loki now admitting his issues doesn’t make them Loki’s fault; that’s just a step of the healing process.
I get that, but that’s not what we’re saying. We’re saying the series completely disregarded the reason for Loki’s NPD and just made it come across as, “Loki is a narcissist.” No one is saying Odin needed to be the focus. The show did not properly delve into his disorder and basically tried to say that the reason he is the way he is is because of his actions, instead of, your actions are a reflection of your trauma, let’s deal with that. A lot of people disliked this, including myself.
Oh crap, I'm sorry I misunderstood what you meant when you said they passed the blame from Odin. My bad. I get it now. And what you are saying is very true.
We should never have let him go. There was no stopping him. Well, at least he’s only banished, not dead. Which is what we’d all be if that guard hadn’t told Odin where we’d gone. hey, generally speaking i am pro-pirating but there is post going around with a free version of Maus by Art Spiegelman on a google doc and i am genuinely asking you all to not reblog it. Art Spiegelman is still alive. he still makes money off of Maus. and what is being monetized is his generational trauma as the son of a holocaust survivor. please either buy Maus or get it from the library (libraries also benefit the author and when more people request or check out a book it communicates to the library that they need more copies). pirating Maus is very different than pirating a marvel movie or reading a google doc of a book no longer in print. please use critical thinking.
wish my life was like a 90’s movie where all my friends work in record stores and bookshops and coffee shops and we see really cool bands in small little clubs and get breakfast together and like hang out on roofs and shit

If y’all support @/wheredafandomat, please do not interact with me. She has consistently posted dark content without proper warnings even after being spoken to about it on multiple occasions. Readers, including myself, have had panic attacks because she has written multiple chapters that contained sexual assault without tagging it and has now come back to continue posting that same story without proper warnings. Her apology was not genuine since she basically came back and did the same thing. If dark themes trigger you, be on the lookout for her work because it is not properly tagged or labelled and it will not be filtered out.

No but seriously as I’ve gotten older I realize more and more that although white gays do face certain levels of oppression they are still white people.....like does that make sense?
Like yes a white lesbian has some form oppression against her but she’s still a white woman..... and the same thing for white gay men and white trans men and women like they’re still white !!!!!!
Like I don’t mean this in a rude way but like if we’re going to be honest about the lgbtq community we should also talk about how the white people in said community oppress poc and it doesn’t change just because they’re in a minority group they’re still white people
And like personally I’ve seen that white lgbtq ppl hate when you bring up that their still white because they’ve separated themselves in their mind as being better but they’re still white!!!
Hello white people should definitely be looking at this and reblogging it lmaooo
Loki: Given the circumstances, I will let you hug me for four to five seconds.
Thor: Forty five seconds?!?
Loki: No! I said four TO five seconds.
Thor, hugging Loki: Too late.

Can everyone who reads this PLEASE reblog it?!?!? Libraries literally saved my life as a child!
Being abused at home, bullied at school and lost in the world, the library and all the books I could escape to the most amazing worlds, kept me alive!
I would walk to the library, and spend all day, from 10 am to 9 pm reading there!! I got special awards for how many books I read, I wrote little blurbs on why i loved the books (probably why I love to BETA and do ARCs)
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Just hit the green arrows and the reblog!!!
As a 50 year old woman, the library offers me so much. Digital art pads to borrow, 3D printing, book clubs that are face to face (yeah, the introvert likes face to face because a moderator will stomp on anyone getting snarky)
New books in LARGE PRINT! I’m visually challenged and as much as I love my kindle, The feel of a real book in my hands will always be a beloved feeling!
Our library also has quarterly books sales of almost free books!! For 5$USD we get in a day early and can buy as many as we want. Anyone else has to wait and there is a limit for the first 2 days.
Also many, many libraries have inter library loan(it may be called something different). This means if they don’t have the item you want, they can get it for you. This may include photocopy/pdf of articles. This can also include along with books and DVDs, microfilm/fiche which is also a huge resource. Check around for libraries that are listed as depositories if you want to look at government documents.
Remember that many colleges and universities have open stacks for the public. You will likely have to pay a membership fee but you will get to stuff.
I love the library ☺
The library was one of my favorite places to go as a kid and I still live to go and just. Sit and read. Or do homework. The university I’m at has a massive 8-story one I love to just wonder around in~ Great places
Libraries are amazing places, we need to protect them to ensure their continued existence.
As a digital nomad, libraries are some of my favourite places. They are like a second home to me.
