“I understand the feeling,” he said, laying a hand on her shoulder, unsure if he was trying to ground her or himself in reality. Her question threw him offguard, and Del blinked in surprise.
He hadn’t thought about how he was - not really. He’d been to focused on Iden. Realizing that fact, Del was suddenly aware of his sore muscles, a throbbing pain in his side, and a pounding in his head that matching the pounding of his blood.
“Rather bloody exhausted,” he admitted with a wry smile. “I -”
Whatever he was about to say next was lost when he glanced over at her and saw how pale she looked.
“Kriff, Iden, you look awful! Have you been to medical?”
His SUDDEN concerned over her well-being was unsurprising and was to be expected YET she still found herself caught off-guard, seeing the worried look clouding his eyes when their gazes met. But a soft sigh left her lips, offering him a grim smile before she AVERTED her eyes down to where his hand was currently resting on her shoulder. Iden wasn’t sure how she should even answer his question without having him worrying over her more, especially at the FACT that she felt fine–other than the ACHE she felt in her muscles and how SORE her back felt. “Well, bloody exhausted is definitely one way to put it.” Her eyes still remained on his hand, finding comfort at his caring touch.
“Do I REALLY look that bad?” she jokingly said, trying to LIGHTENED the dreary mood up with a strained smile. “But honestly, I’m FINE.” She answered him as she grabbed his hand off from her shoulder, giving him a gentle squeeze which was quickly followed by a reassuring pat. After all, there are others on the Corvus who needs to see the medical more than the either of them–both physically and mentally.
Del couldn't quite make himself believe her, but he didn't argue, only gave her a soft smile.
"You just look like you should get something to eat or drink, get some rest," he said glancing down at their hands. "Just... go in the morning, will you? To medical?" He tried to smile jokingly, but it was probably more of a grimace. "I'd hate for my commanding officer to collaspe from some injury."
And really. It's not that he thinks she's lying, it's that he knows she overlooks her own needs for the needs of her crew. Quite admirable, sure, but not helpful if she passed out from blood loss after not realizing just how badly injured she was.
"I've got an idea!" Del said a moment later. "Why don't we head back to my quarters, or your's, have a drink, and try to rest? I don't think either of us want to be alone, right now."
