New Roommate? | Izaya & Heinkel
ค๓єภ ☩ ‖ “Ja, danke.”
The blonde returned the other’s polite bow as she watched him do one towards her, allowing her to register within her head that she would probably come across as a polite woman if she returned his manners in the same way. She needed all of the cover that she could at this point, and if that meant sucking up to this guy then so be it. Though, something about him honestly told her t be cautious, knowing within her gut that something wasn’t right with him. He was intelligent though, he could tell by the way he spoke.
When his eyes met hers, Heinkel failed to flinch nor twitch in the wrong way. Her mind and soul was used to these situations, coming from the Vatican straight to a society that was in a corrupt and devastating situation. Someone like this guy here was nothing compared to having a vampire glaring at you with blood-lust within their eyes, or a man staring into your soul with a gun to your stomach. All of these situations had hardened Heinkel, getting her calm and collected when something bad happens- all beneficial to the assassin.
She tilted her head a little as she listened to his voice speaking to her, watching his face as he did speak. There was nothing out of the ordinary about his facial expressions at all, as if he was a pro at meeting people and telling them about similar situations as this. It was strange to her, causing alarm bells to ring within her head but she kept such worries to herself, replying to his words instead.
“I am sure zhat ve vill get along fine und stay out of trouble, vhich means zhat I am not zhat vorried meinself.” She allowed silence to fall before speaking to him again, answering his offer with gratitude. “Danke, I shall keep zhat in mind if I am in a pinch.”
A smile lit Izaya’s face as he moved to sit on the sofa, settling into a relaxed posture to help and ease the atmosphere. To his roommate’s credit, the atmosphere was actually not all that tense to begin with, as they were both simply wanting to get along as best they could off the bat. Still, the more casual he could appear, the more likely it was that Heinkel would come to trust him – or, at the very least, trust him well enough to partake of his services, and maybe even divulge some information of her own, though the question of him earning her complete trust was yet up in the air.
He gave an acknowledging tilt of his head and allowed the silence to stretch for a moment before opening his mouth to speak again. “If you don’t mind me asking, what kind of business do you have in this city? Well, it’s not like I mean to pry, but you understand, don’t you? That Hashiro City is anything but a peaceful city. On the other hand, it hovers, right now, on the brink of calamity, as the factions become increasingly aware of each other.” His smile grew and a certain mischievous glint entered his eyes. “I wonder how much tauter this rope can be pulled before something breaks. Well,” he added, deciding to change the topic after a momentary pause, “you can rest assured that your allies won’t alter my opinion of you one way or the other. I am, after all, just a simple information broker with no affiliation. I have no stakes in this grand game.”
His interest was simple: to see how it all played out. There would have to be, he knew, sooner or later, a clash between the ruling Organisation and the rebel force, one that might just determine the future of this city. He would offer a push or light shove here and there, but he was, for the most part, a non-player, only offering his information to the players who needed it. Once his game here was concluded, he would likely slither back to Shinjuku where he’d come from.
