The boundaries of a given (constructed) space within a city limit us to a particular way of moving throughout it. This geo-psychographic maze inclines, but mostly forces us to follow the sidewalk, road, staircase etc… wherever it may be. It is often un-thought of to sway from the pre-established beaten road, but not necessarily because we fear a dereliction from it. A city is utterly saturated in the culmination of human desire for progress. This inclines us in every waking moment to believe in the established system and become as robotic and pre-programmed as the layout itself. Always we must seek the easier pathway; always we must avoid the dark forest. We experience a lack of creation in this absence of serendipity, a folding of moments and memories which contain a lack of engagement for the infinitude of possibilities. A project of mapping one of these static pathways will unveil a grotesque reality in some cases, perhaps a cathartic state of curiosity or even bliss. The destination will cease to be the whole of the motion. Instead the destination will be every step and every motion will be a departure from apathy.
