She was a little taken aback by that confession. Yes, she would miss him too, but after all he’d said about his sister. It was quite the comparison for him to make. “Not more than you miss your sister though surely, you love her…” She offered a sad smile. “I wish things were different, I do. Please don’t think I want to send you away.”

“I know you don’t want to,” he said. He could tell that she wanted him to stay just as badly as he wanted to stay. “Wanda doesn’t even know I’m alive,” he added. “She thinks I’m dead… I’m sure by now she has learned to move on from it. Maybe it’s best if I don’t go back to her..”

“No, no don’t say that.” She said shaking her head and reaching out to touch his shoulder gently. “She’s your sister. Your family. She will be so happy to see you again, I promise.”

Crystal wished that she could make a case for him to stay. But Attilan had so little resources already. An extra mouth to feed was not going to be an easy sell. “Don’t you want to go home to your sister? I know you miss her very much.”

Thinking about Wanda made him sad. Yes. He did miss her. But he also didn’t like the idea of leaving Crystal. He’d grown accustomed to her company. “I do, but.. I would miss you too,” he said, looking right into her eyes.

Crystal looked sad for a moment. She wanted to tell him that it wasn’t the end. But she didn’t know how it couldn’t be. Her family wouldn’t let her see him again. No matter how much she wanted to. “I…I’m sorry Pietro…” 

He sighed again. Somehow he knew that would be the answer. For a while, he just remained silent, which was quite out of character for him. “Do you think they would let me stay? If I helped out, maybe…..”

Pietro was silent for a few moments. This girl…. he might have grown a bit more than fond of her. She was so kind and caring. Taking in a deep breath, he gave a small shake of his head. “This can’t be goodbye. We’ll see each other again…. won’t we?”

Crystal looked sad for a moment. She wanted to tell him that it wasn’t the end. But she didn’t know how it couldn’t be. Her family wouldn’t let her see him again. No matter how much she wanted to. “I...I’m sorry Pietro...”

“I can take you somewhere safe,” he said. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you. Believe me, I know more than anyone about not wanting to leave family behind. I guess I just wish I could show you what life is like out there. Because I know you want to see it. And….. I don’t want to leave you.”  

“Safe? There’s no where safer for an Inhuman than Attilan. That’s why Black Bolt is sending us to rescue as many as we can. But...” She paused for a moment. “I know how you feel. I don’t want you to leave either. But that’s the law. Attilan is no place for a human.”

Her eyes grew wide at the offer. “What?” She muttered looking a little shocked. “You want me to go to Earth with you? Pietro, you know I can’t do that.”

“Why not?” he asked, stepping forward. “Crys, you know they aren’t going to let me stay. But if you come with me, you won’t be treated the way they treat you. You can be around more who are like you and I. You can have a new life.”

"Careful what you say. These people are my family. I may not like how they treat me all the time...but I still love them. I can't just abandon them." She protested. "Besides, I've seen your world, through videos, and people like me are hunted there. My own cousin was hunted there. You can't guarantee I would be safe."

Slowly he stood, though he was quick to stuff his hands into the pockets of his pants so that she wouldn’t keep holding onto him. “You’ve got a lot of optimism,” he muttered, looking ahead of them as if he knew where they were going.  

“Thank you.” Crystal would gladly take that as a compliment, She held back a laugh as he seemed to be pretending he had any idea where he was going. “So, why doesn’t your Mother allow you to take part in negotiations?” She asked kindly enough as they made their way outside and into the lush gardens of Attilan.

He looked up at her, wondering how she understood him so well. “Like what?” he asked. The boy had become so bitter through his years. He didn’t really see any light in his world. So how could this girl.

“Well for one we could be in the gardens instead of this drab room.” She gave his hand a little tug with the hopes that he would simply follow her. “Come on, what do you have to lose?”

“No.” She admitted, looking a little annoyed. “You’re just the boy who is left outside while his mother does negotiations.” Crystal frowned a bit more before trying to offer a smile of her own. Getting up she took his hand into hers. “Come on. There’s far more entertaining things we could be doing than sitting here.”

Lifting a brow, he stared at the fiery red haired woman across from him. “And you think there is something I can do about that?” he asked, confused on why she had even said anything on that matter.
