Is new yolk based off of the American gilded age? Sticks talking about elipotyphla meat in chilli dogs made me think about how the lack of food regulations in the gilded age allowed unsanitary situations, such as “mystery meat” (often rats or even people) joining normal food, to occur. The golden egg dome (covering new yolk) also made me think about the West egg and East egg locations in The Great Gatsby.

I had not been inspired by the Gilded Age specifically but rather the Industrial Revolution are as a whole. I do think it’s cool that I accidentally nodded at the Great Gatsby though 😂

As for the food regulations, all things that come out of Sticks’ mouth are either complete nonsense or references to current world political tensions/conspiracies rather than ones back in the day. I was referencing Soylent Green and all the conspiracies revolving around it these days with that particular comment of hers haha

Don’t have to answer if its spoilers, but are the mercenaries that eggman has “prowling the streets” (chapter 40) perhaps jackals provided from the northern steppe?

I would say that because the world that Stars Align is set in is not unified by any major government bodies or alliances, that the dominant economic structure would vary from civilization to civilization and depend completely on the nature of both the citizens and whoever proceeds over them. In other words it’s a toss up!

All of the mercenaries or soldiers that Eggman has at his disposal are golems that he has summoned!

He will not, I do not believe that I addressed this directly in the fic, but that is information that will never be revealed to him. Both because it would break him, and also because I find it poetic that he will never know the full truth

See is was SUPPOSED to keep chapter buffers for Stars Align and then I did not 💀 I am simply too impatient! I always post the moment I finish and it will be a cold day in hell if I’ve even prof read lolol

Do you usually plan out your writes with an outline? how do you keep track of your lore?

For more complex storylines I keep multiple documents listing all of the plot points and events that I want to happen! Depending on the complexity of the story I want to write, those documents will get either more or less detailed.

I really like to vibe write, though, so if I’m not feeling too particular about the details I’ll set like a very vague “this event happens this chapter” and nothing else and I’ll fill in the gaps.

For Stars Align in particular I started off with a VERY vague outline that grew more and more detailed as I went along! My plot document multiplied and grew more complex as I went. As of right now I have a plot line, multiple lore documents, and another doc that I use to draft scenes/chapters in extreme detail when my mind is working faster than my typing.

My writing process is pretty chaotic, lol, it’s a wild mix of vibe writing and outlines

I am a really big fan of your work and I really like what you do. I’ve been reading stars align since 20 chapters ago. And I have a few questions regarding fanart.

How do you feel about fanart of stars align?

Are personal interpetations from text ok for fanart, or would you perfer if the artist followed a specific character sheet? (Ex. The text doesn’t often mention Sonic having pants/ shorts but in your art of stars align he wears shorts, but the hypothetical fanartwould have sonic with no shorts. If that makes sense)

I sometimes see artists post fanart of fics online (with credits of course). But I just want to know is credit better given in the form of a link or literally typing “stars align by initforthelolz on Ao3”

How much fanart would you consider too much? I sometimes see accounts that are very dedicated to making fanart to a singular fic. The artist even puts the fic credit in their desc, as to not confuse the observers of said art. If you saw an account like this would it make you uncomfortable?

I don’t mind personal interpretations of the text either! Mobians wear clothes in Stars Align but I don’t mind if they’re drawn without.

If there was an art account it wouldn’t make me uncomfortable! I love fanart, and just as long as myself and the fic’s name are mentioned then I’m chill 🫶
