Buy HP Pavilion 14-q070nr Intel Celeron 4GB Memory 14.0" Chromebook Chrome OS with fast shipping and top-rated customer service. Once you know, you Newegg!
By spending $360, I've saved money.
I need a new laptop (the one I am typing upon is dying by breaths) so I decided to go with a Chromebook. This one, at $360, comes with 3 extras that I actually will use:
1) 100GB of Google drive for 2 years ($120 value)
2) 12 GoGo internet sessions (~$150 value)
3) 4G data for 2 years ($480 value)
About the 4G: it's only 200MB/month but that would be enough for me- would just remember I can't really derp on the 'net when I should be working on a flight. I value it at $480 because I pay $20/month for a 2G hotspot on my phone. Now I can cancel the hotspot on my phone.
Total value of extras: $750.
It's hard to argue with free money.

The credit belongs to those who are actually in the arena, who strive valiantly; ... who at best know the triumph of high achievement; and who, at worst, if they fail, fail while daring greatly, so that their place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.

Oh Laravel, I love digging through other people's applications to figure out basic implementations.
Extending FormHelper's create()
According to everything on Google, extending FormHelper to control site-wide defaults should be easy. And it pretty much is. Except there is a "gotcha" with create() and I had to dig around in all the various files to figure out where it was falling down.
create() takes 2 arguments ($model & $options), both of which are optional. If $model is empty Cake will use $options to set up everything.
Easy, right? Right. And it lets you do things like this:
$this -> Form -> create()
However, if you have extended FormHelper's create() and you are doing this...
$this -> Form -> create(array(option, option, option))
Without explicitly declaring the model, the automagic will bite you in the bum.
FormHelper::create looks like this:
create($model = null, $options = array())
But the problem arises when you have not set a model, and Cake has swapped $options for $model. Now you have 2 arrays that you feed back to parent::create($model,$options). See the problem?
It gets tripped up on FormHelper.php around line 237:
if ($model !== false) { list($plugin, $model) = pluginSplit($model, true)....
Then pluginSplit is expecting a string, but gets fed an array and it falls over.
The solution is to declare either the model OR to simply set it to null, so Cake won't swap $options to $model.
$this -> Form -> create(null, array(option, option, option))
Or...
$this -> Form -> create(ModelName, array(option, option,option))
(Where, of course, ModelName is the name of your model)
