          “      captain kingsleigh?   i’ve never been called that before—  i  LOVE it!      ”     their excitement was practically through the roof as they followed lillanelle out of the room in an admittedly more  ungraceful  manner,  having almost tripped over their own feet at least once before arriving at the hallway.     “     well,  every adventure needs   food  so we could make a stop at the cafeteria before we go on our way!     ”

          MORGAN JUMPED, ONLY slightly, when anya exclaimed. he’d been lost in thought trying to figure out where to get glitter from, though now it seemed that it wasn’t necessary. ❝ oh, what a good idea !! though i hope i won’t have to sit where the wheel is, i don’t think i should be trusted with such heavy machinery. ❞

          a soft laugh escaped their lips at his comment.     “    no, silly,  we can get a car to take us there!  don’t they have  apps  for that reason?   i  can’t be trusted around cars either,  especially since i almost failed my driver’s exam, though that’s an  entirely  different story, now isn’t it?     ”

          MORGAN NODDED ALONG as he listened to the plan. he didn’t know all that much about the intricacies, preferring to leave that to anya, and he would just help. ❝ i don’t have any qualms about colour as long as it’s pastel, really – ooh, glitter !! that would look so pretty in the sunlight !! where are we going to get it ?? ❞

           anya scrunched their nose as they thought on where they could get glitter,  an excited expression on their face once they thought of an answer.     “     i know where to get the glitter we need!      ”      they exclaim,  a shimmer in their eyes,      “      i passed by an arts shop on my way here  —  it’s nearer to auradon that auroria,  but i’m sure we can get a car to take us there in no time!      ”

lillanelle jumped up from their seat. “ oh, are we ?! how exciting, anya !! ” grabbing the little film camera from the lampstand, lillanelle rushed to stand beside her friend. “ what an excellent idea, a good way to re-jig our brains for this stroll down memory lane !! an unplanned adventure to heighten our senses and recalibrate our minds !! ” it had been an awfully long day of storytelling their histories, after all. and lillanelle didn’t mind repeating a single word of it if it meant anya would remember. 

         lillanelle’s eagerness draws a smile from anya,   their excitement slowly rising up to match her’s.  granted, they didn’t quite know  how  they were going to save the world  (  or if the world  needed  saving in the first place ) ,  but the knowledge of knowing that WONDERLAND,  the place anya grew up in their childhood, is in fact very much  REAL  just put them in a mood to, well,  save the world.    “    all right!  where do you think we should start, then?      ”

            There’s maybe a tad bit of shock - witch didn’t expect any to agree with him , given his faith in his own theory was NOT as strong as he led on. But he finds himself chuckling , nodding before putting on a more ‘ confident ’ expression once more. ❝ Y’know ?? You’re right. And you’re SMART - this is more secret shit. We should have meetings in secrecy as the crack of dawn. ❞ And he sits back , looking around and taking a deep breath. ❝ You think there’re cameras around here ?? Gotta be.         anya nods their head, a sure expression on their face,  though the  confidence  wavers    slightly   when he mentions  secret meetings.       “     PLEASE,  i’ve seen guards eyeing me   suspiciously   since i got here.   then again, i   did   talk to some of them about wonderla  —  oh  never mind that!       ”     they huff,  taking a step to point an accusing finger at him, eyes narrowed.      “    but how do i know   YOU’RE   not the one who stole it,  and now you’re trying to shift the blame to the guards,   H U H ??       ”

Imogen shrugged sheepishly. “I mean, is there really such a thing as good coffee when everyone I know drowns theirs in cream and sugar?” she asked. Imogen leaned forward and grabbed the other person’s hand. “I’m Imogen,” she said. “It seems like you know where all of the good places are. Are you from around here?” 

             “     pleasure to meet you!     ”     anya shakes her hand twice, before pulling it away to place it on their hip, a determine look on their face now that they’ve found   something   to do  —  they had to get the poor girl some  actual   coffee.     “    i mean,  of course,  lived in auradon most of my life,  gotta made sure i know the  best  spots.     ”

          MORGAN WASN’T ALWAYS the mischief type, but he did like a good, light-hearted prank, and so he had no complaints. ❝ of course i’m in !! but does it have to be purple ?? it’s a beautiful colour, but i wanted to see if they have pastel food dye. ❞ pastels were his brand, after all.

          anya’s lips curve up in to a wide grin, happy to have found a  accomplice   in their plan.      “     well,   of course   we can !   i mean, we could always add  less  of the food dye to   dilute  it or whatever and make the color  lighter.  plus we could always go for something other than purple !    OH !   we could add  glitter.     ”

          anya lets out a huff, already tired of the conversation.   (  which, really, wasn’t his fault —  anya’s mind just tended to just jump from one subject to another.     )     “      like i said, aren’t the guards already on it?   it’s been   quiet   for quite some time now, too  —  maybe they caught the culprit and  disposed  of them discreetly,  so none of us would panic of anything.  besides, a potion book seems  pretty  powerful,  ‘specially if you know how to make potions.   here, take it  —     ”       they say, holding out the spool he had asked for earlier.

A social experiment. Have you considered that ?? And that’s why nobody’s said SHIT - because they’re waiting to see what we’ll do.          “       HOLY SHIT.      ”      her eyes widen, the words escape their mouth, because, well, a   brain-to-mouth filter   isn’t something anya has nowadays.     “     listen,   i never really cared about the whole break-in shit, but, dude, now i’m   HOOKED.    i mean— it makes total sense!       ”    they let out a loud gasp, grabbing the stick from his hand, moving in closer to whisper,     “    are you  crazy?   you can’t plot a  revolution   in   BROAD DAYLIGHT!  do you know  how many cameras there are on us right now?  i mean, i personally  don’t   but i’m sure there are cameras watchin’ us   still.     ”

Imogen didn’t know who the stranger in front of her word, but she could definitely sympathize with their words. She had been surviving on the recreation room’s coffee for the past week, and she’d just about had it. “No way, I’m used to this sort of thing back on the Isle,” she said. “It’s actually refreshing. I’m getting sick of shaking hands and smiling at people all the time.”

         a frown appears on their face, followed by a dramatic  GASP   as they take a step forward, hand on their heart.     “     so you’ve  never   had good coffee before?      ”     okay, that might have been a   bit   too insensitive of them, but when has anya ever filter what they wanted to say?    “     so i’ve redeemed myself after all!     ”    they say, a grin on their face, sticking a hand forward.      “     i’m   anya,   and if you like the coffee in the recreation room, then you’ll absolutely   LOVE  this coffee place in auradon. bit farther away, but the trek is   so   worth it!     ”

ANYA KINGSLEIGH, major in ENGLISH LITERATURE, minor in italian studies.

the subjects

introduction to literary and cultural studies, advanced rhetoric, & literature in the modern world.    subjects that pertain to anya’s major !  they absolutely hate being an english lit major, since they’ve realized that college is not  for them. still, they want to make their aunt proud, so anya takes a major that is relatively easy   (  spoiler alert : it isn’t.   )

philosophy, statistics, art appreciation.    philosophy & art appreciation are just free electives they decided to take, while statistics is a  required  course they had to take as a prerequisite to their  dissertation course  in future semesters.

snorkeling.   anya’s chosen physical education course.  despite their mother being lost at sea, anya still   loves  the ocean, and snorkeling is the nearest thing they’ll ever have to their dream of  sailing the seas  like their mother did.

italian.   they wanted to take a minor, and italian subjects were up so they thought, why not?
