She messaged you last night...
She messaged you last night. You were asleep next to me, feverish with the changing seasons. Your warm skin pressed tightly to mine, your arm draped over my stomach with a weight that meant something. I watched as her name popped up on the screen across the room and I winced. My insides churned as those seven letters rose up, interrupting the film we’d been watching before sleep took you. Her name, and a simple “Hello”…but not simple….not really…written in the language of the place where she hurt you. That place that you hold precious for reasons I cannot begin to fathom. I don’t know why I feel as insecure as I do. I don’t know why I am flooded with hatred for a woman I’ve never met. I don’t know why I still have trouble believing you when you say “You’re mine, I love you.” Maybe it’s because I’ve been lied to too many times. Maybe it’s because I see the love you had for her and it’s intimidating. Maybe it’s just that I love you too. Maybe love is what makes me insecure. Fear of losing it, fear of letting it in. I wish she wouldn’t speak to you. I wish it was just that simple. But I don’t have that right, and I would never ask that of you. I know this issue is mine, and I have to conquer this fear myself. Because fear is something you carry around with you, not something that comes to get you in the dark.

Just a few of the different kinds of cats you might encounter
With Trump’s election and the threat of fascism, Twitter user Raphael Bob-Waksberg reminds us of Martin Niemöller’s words after WWII:
“First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.”
god it’s so annoying how delusional ass conservatives act like millennials are “offended by everything” for standing up to things like blatant racism and sexism, meanwhile there’s a conservative outrage every time starbucks releases a cup without “merry christmas” on it
