Pictures from Sasha Velour Instagram - “Spring Cleaning”
Sasha Velour is a Drag Queen, Artist and Producer. As a Drag Queen admirer, I’m following Sasha’s work for a few years, as she is one of my favourites. Usually, she does the art direction, styling and photography of her works. Her work got my attention at first because she has a pretty different style from the other Drag Queens, with a more artistic and disruptive aesthetic, not worried about being pretty or fit in. She has this strong and bold image for her character, that she brings to all her works, that it goes from her makeup, clothes, the scenario or her choice of not using a wig, breaking up with the standards imposed about how Drag Queens or even women, should look like.
On these images, specific, I like how she brought an artistic vision for a silly theme as “Spring Cleaning”, I really like how she worked with the colours and how she has a “different character ” for each picture and how all of them fit in on the theme.
