âHmm. Let me see... Ah hah. Here we are. I usually keep a bottle of Rosso handy for times like these.â He pulled the bottle from its hiding place along with two glasses. He handed a filled glass to Leonardo. If the man wished to talk about what was troubling him, then he would talk. Quinn wouldnât push him, he would simply listen.

âWine or beer?â
Did she want to hear from her brother? Ariella was unsure. As far as she was concerned, no news was good news â it meant he was still alive and she did not have to worry too much about him. Then again, no news also meant that it was possible for him to be dead. She debated this in her head for a few minutes, letting her gaze wander over the sky. Finally, after a rather long silence, she spoke. âYes. I believe I would like to make sure my brother is still alive.â If she just knew where he was, there was the possibility of going to see him, to convince him to join the Inquisitionâs cause⊠after all, the Templar order hadâŠ
What if heâŠ
No. She would not think of that right now. It was too much to bear, too much heartache to be had if she pondered on it for too long.
âHow tragic it must be to be taken from your family,â Ariella said slowly. âAre your siblings not mages, then?â Though she could only slightly relate to what mages went through â being taken from their families â that was where the similarities ended. The mages that she had spoken to were subjected to things that were unspeakable⊠treated like prisoners. âI think,â she said carefully. âCircles should be for education, not as a place where mages are sent to be confined.â A bold statement, but the truth nonetheless.
Quinn made a mental note to pen some letters later in the day. For now, it was nice to just lay in the grass and relax for a time. The sky was spotted with fluffy clouds here and there. A light breeze ghosted over the grass. The sun was warm, but not miserable. It was a very nice day to be outside. Quinn wished it could remain like this all the time. But, alas, the world wasnât that kind.
He swallowed once and shook his head. âNo, they arenât. Iâm the only one.â And thank the Maker for that. Quinn didnât want to imagine his siblings going through what he did. What his parents did. He wasnât taken at all. That would imply his parents fought to keep him when in reality, they were happy to be rid of him. They didnât even wait a day to call the Templars. Quinn sighed and pushed those memories away.Â
Ariellaâs next words surprised him. The mage turned to look at her with a measure of shock. âYou really think that?â he asked, âNot many people do. But I agree. They should be meant as places for education. Tevinter does a lot of things wrong, but their concept of the Circles makes the most sense.â
my character doesnât just need lovers
They need enemies that break them and force them to test their morals
They need friends that will backstab them and hurt their feelings
They need an enemy that will become a friend
They need friends that they would lay down their life for
They need people so close to them that they might as well be siblings
They need fights and conflict and battles that could leave them broken and inches from death
My character does not just need lovers
Morgiana raised a brow as she heard Quinn play. Sheâd been following music as was her nature before she found the Inquisitor making faces as he attempted to play. He wasnât bad, but she found that the song was lacking something. When he asked her opinion, the woman moved to his backâ leaning to reach for the keys herself with a small smile. âWell, I think perhaps if you use this..â she changed the keys, just slightly. âIt sounds like a better transition to your ending, also itâs very charming. Are there words to your ditty?â
Ah, much better! He jotted down the notes she had played before playing through that part of the piece as well. Yes, that would do nicely. The mage smiled and turned so that he was facing Morgiana. âThank you. And, no, there arenât any words as of right now. Itâs um,â here he blushed a little, âItâs about the Inquisition, actually.â Nothing he expected everyone to sing, of course. It was mainly a personal project, something to show his gratitude toward his friends and companions.Â

âSo what now? You arenât just going to leave, are you?â

âIf I held a grudge against everyone who attacked me in a dream, Iâd have no friends.â

the smile upon his lips widened the moment the former chevalier glanced down onto the man he held in his arms. oh, now that blush was quite adorable. there was a chuckle, a sound that resonated deep in his chest â one that could definitely be felt by the herald, . even his own cheeks colored as an arm wrapped about him. was it strange that every touch from this man feltâŠright? something deep within him wanted to hold him tighter, to have the blonde rest his head upon his shoulder.Â
â and yet I worry you may still find a way to fall. â cedric teases with a chuckle, eyes bright with jest, as he continues his path to the healerâs. âmais ne vous inquiĂ©tez pas, mon inquisiteur. â his smile widens to a grin. â I will always catch you. â
Is that a promise? Regardless, it makes Quinnâs heart flutter. If not for being carried, he may have swooned. The Orlesian didnât help at all. For the longest time, Quinn can only stare up at Cedric with a deepening blush. Would it be appropriate to flirt back? Did Cedric even flirt, or had he simply stated a fact? Quinnâs mind races a mile a minute. âAh. Then itâs good you are mon chevalier en armure brilliante,â he finally returns, something that can be taken as flirting or a statement of fact. Either way, it doesnât lessen Quinnâs blush and he is extremely grateful to finally arrive at the healers.Â
Adan isnât at all surprised to see the clumsy Inquisitor again, though his mode of transportation is odd. But who is he to judge? Adan directs the two to a chair and promptly gets to work on Quinnâs ankle. Quinn keeps his eyes on the healerâs work, too embarrassed to look at Cedric. Only when Adan wraps his ankle and tells him to take it easy today does Quinn chance a glance. The Inquisitor slowly gets to his feet and tests his weight. The pain isnât too severe, but walking long distances will be a problem. No fieldwork for a while, then. At least that means he can catch up on some reading.
Quinn limped over to Cedric and the door. âAh. Thank you for bringing me here. Um. Could I trouble you to help me back to my room. You -ah- donât need to carry me this time but ah... Iâd appreciate it if you kept good on your promise,â he smiles shyly, looking up at the taller man through his lashes.Â

Ariella had heard of the conflict with the mages and the Templars, but her brother had never mentioned it. It wasnât until she had joined the Inquisition that she really noticed how terrible things were between the two groups. âIf there is anything that we are able to do,â she murmured. âJust to fix it. I would like mutual trust with all of the Circles, and perhapsâŠ. more freedom for them?âÂ
The mention of her brother had her perk up quickly. âYes, Eric. Eric is such a good man,â she said with an enthusiastic nod. He was the better of the two brothers, but to not know where he was or how he was faring was killing her. At least she knew this much, that people believed him to be a good man. âI wish I could find out if he had stayed or not, ut I have not gotten any information from anyone.â It wasnât for the lack of trying, they just could not locate him, and it was beginning to worry her.
She turned her gaze back toward the sky. âDo you have any siblings?âÂ
Quinn turned his head to the side to stare at her. That she wanted to help said a lot about her character and who she would be as Inquisitor. âI know many mages would appreciate that,â he murmured before looking back at the sky. More freedom would be very appreciated among all the Circles. If they remained after all of this. Quinn would rather see the Circles stay for their educational value. They should be places of learning, not prisons. He wasnât sure if Thedas was ready to go without Circles just yet.Â
âI still have some friends near the Circle. I could send a letter and ask them, if youâd like,â he offered. Between all of them, they could probably track down Ariellaâs brother. Quinn wouldnât mind seeing Eric again. And if it would make the Inquisitor happy, all the better. Heâd have to borrow a few of Lelianaâs birds, have Josephine help with the letters...
Her question of siblings brought his train of thought to a screeching halt. Quinn was glad she was watching the sky, or else she would have seen his expression pale. The mage chewed his lip for a moment. âAh. Yes, I do. Three, actually. Two sisters, Alicia and Hannah. And a brother, August. Theyâre all younger than me, Alicia being the oldest, and August the youngest of the three. I... Havenât seen them since I was thrown-- given to the Circle,â he explained with some difficulty. Family was always a sore subject with Quinn...
roughed hand lingered upon the manâs cheek, even if it was for just a few moments, it was enough to be noticed. but cederic was a polite man â a man who knew lingering touches could make one uncomfortable if not previously stated to be welcomed. his hand fell from quinnâs cheek, fixed instead on the air above the heraldâs shoulder before hesitantly falling to his side.Â
blue eyes watch the other, studying every inch of him, searching for any sign of injury or discomfort. â a sprain? â he repeated, gaze lowering upon the ankle quinn clasped in his hand. hand reach out, fingers softly brush upon his inquisitorâs hand before immediately retracting. â â may I? â cedric questions softly, gaze lifting from the blondeâs ankle to those vibrant blue eyes.Â
cedric waits for an answer before fingers softly study the swelling skin, a frown touching his brows. â this should be treated quickly, â he states, lifting his stance to a kneel, arms gather the smaller mage into the crook of his arms. cedric stands, holding quinn close to his chest, smiling down upon him with that all too gentle look in his eye. â I hope you do not mind my treatment, monsieur. â he speaks, softly, before carefully carrying his inquisitor up havenâs stepsâŠ
The moment their hands touched -however brief- sent a spark through Quinn. It was unlike his magic and unlike anything he ever felt. The feeling wasnât unpleasant. It was warm, tingling from his hand to the rest of his body. He was so lost in the sensation that the mechanically replied to Cedâs questioning. He didnât even realize the man picked him up until they were going up the steps. The mage blinked up at the bigger man. He was keenly aware of the solid mass of arms underneath him. Cedricâs chest was firm, but soft. If he listened carefully, Quinn could hear the manâs heartbeat.Â
But oh, those eyes! That blue-grey color only a storm on the sea could mimic. Quinn found himself as lost in those eyes as he had been in that sensation. He almost missed Cedricâs statement. Swallowing, Quinn shook his head. âAh. No. I donât mind. Thank you,â he said quietly, feeling his cheeks burning with a blush. Well, he had wondered what this would be like. Unsure of what to do with his arms, Quinn let one rest on his stomach and carefully brought the other one around Cedricâs neck. His hand came to rest on the manâs shoulder.Â
Unable to stand the silence, Quinn spoke up. âIâll be grateful for Spring. Less snow and ice to worry about,â he gave a nervous laugh.
I felt pretty today so here. Mun in brown.
his body felt complete with a blade in his hand â and he felt just at home with the sun beating down upon his skin, sweat dampening his brow as he blasted blow after blow upon his target.Â
whispers spread about the crowd of soldiers the moment the inquisitor began his journey down the steps from havenâs gates â though unlike the others, he did not lift his head to stare. his gaze yes. just a glance. just one. but one glance turned to several â what was it about this man that caught his attention so? perhaps, it was the way the sun shone off his hair â or the kindness he wears in his smileâŠ
whatever it was, cedric did not fight it. he continued his work, a slight smile upon his lips as his mind wandered to the man they called herald â and how was it he could make him smile the way he did a few days backâŠ
but gasps of horror caught his attention â pulling cedric from daydreams and back to reality. head lifted, blue eyes landing upon the inquisitor once more ( for he would be the only cause of shock, wouldnât he? ) only to follow his form as it tumbles down step after stepâŠ
cedric did not wait for another thought â for another whispered word from his comrades â instead, he rushed to past the grounds and to havenâs steps. knees planting themselves in the cold snow. â mon inquisiteur! â he breathed, roughed hands hovering over his body before gently sneaking his hand beneath quinnâs cheek.Â
supple flesh fit perfectly within his large palm, lifting his head to force bright blue eyes to meet his own. â âŠare you alright? â
Makerâs Breath he really was an embarrassment to himself. The Herald of Andraste tumbling down steps like some newborn calf. And of course, it had to happen in front of his soldiers. As if his reputation wasnât bad enough. What would his soldiers think of their Herald now? Just another mage who has too much power and canât even make it out of Haven without falling on his ass. Or face in this case. Quinn huffed into the snow, half-tempted to just lay there for the rest of the day. Aside from possible frostbite, heâd be safe. The snow wasnât too horrible anyway.Â
Then he felt a calloused hand at his cheek. Quinn knew who it was even before they spoke. It made his embarrassment even worse, but why? Why did he feel more aghast that Cedric saw him like this than any other soldier? Why did he seek this manâs approval so? Oh, Maker, why did his hand fit so perfectly on his cheek? Quinn blinked up at Cedric for a long moment before gathering his wits. The mage rolled onto his back and slowly sat up. âYes I-Iâm fine, Cedric,â he answered briefly, not daring to look into the manâs eyes lest he did something even worse than falling down some steps.Â
But rolling over and sitting up jarred his ankle, which he learned only then had been injured during the tumble. The burning, yet mild, pain suggested a sprain. Quinn hissed and clutched at his left ankle. âOr... Maybe not. Um. Just a sprain, though. Iâll be fine...â Still, he couldnât help but glance at those big arms. He couldnât help but imagine what it might feel like to be carried in them...
â itâs just a scratch â ( deshonor )
Injured Starters: Accepting
Blue eyes held a storm as he frowned at Cedric. âIt could become more than a scratch if you donât let me clean it and dress it. Now. Sit. Down,â Quentin ordered. He felt more than saw the others take a step back. It was rare for Quinn to show any emotion other than calm. Seeing him upset or angry threw people off a lot fo the time. Yet, the mage ignored it in favor of tending to Cedricâs injury. The scratch was more like a graze over his forearm. While not deep, there was still a chance of infection. Hyperfocused, Quinn cleaned the wound with clear water before applying a salve. He then tied a tight bandage around the wound. Only when he finished did Quinn relax somewhat. The storm in his eyes calmed as he sighed. â... And donât scare me like that again, okay?â
