Don't mess with Mama bear

"Change is inevitable, but rebirth is rare." Indie Ratchet blog. He found the fledgling reborn spark of Optimus/Orion and has taken it unto himself to take care of the little sparkling version of his closest friend. New to the multiverse himself but he and his world have been aware of it for some time.

He swallows but goes and sits down like asked. “Yes.” He shifts a bit on the bench. He could never get use to the clinics. He just could help remembering the times he had to visit them often.

After a short examination, including a small sample, Ratchet quickly came to a conclusion. “Its not healing correctly, but I figured that by how much heat was there. There seems to be a minor infection. I can prescribe you a simple wash that will help take care of that.” Examining his optics since he was there, and making sure there wasn’t any sign of spreading. “Clean it regularly.” Scribbling down on a note pad. “And get some of this, it will make it feel a lot better and take care of the heat. You should start feeling better in a couple of days and it may even make that scar lighter.”

Soundwave sits there, letting Ratchet look over his optics and scar. Listening to him and looking at the different medicines. Maybe he should ask if it would affect his medicine for his headaches. His optic that had the scar over it was a bit damaged. Not a lot but enough to affect his vision. “Ok. Thank you for these. Will any of this um react badly to my medicine for my helm aches? I just want to be sure there wont be any side effects.” He pulls out the bottle he had for his headaches.

Ratchet takes the meds, reading them over. “Hmmm. They shouldn’t, but might. If you feel any odd symptoms at all while taking them together,” Scribbling something down quickly. “… switch to this one. It is less effective, and will take longer to work properly but it’s fairly benign, it wont have any interactions with your current medication.” Handing both the helmache medication and the second back up prescription back to Soundwave. “Now can you tell me more about your helmaches? Do you know what causes them?”

He nods. Taking the bottles back and putting them away. Well he can only hope he will get better soon. He wished he could get rid of the scar but it shows he survived something traumatic. “My helmaches are really bad when I’m in crowded areas. I think it maybe from reading or hearing too many thoughts at once. I still haven’t really mastered the ability to block out the thoughts around me.”

Telepathy? Rare ability, but it made sense for a Soundwave. “Hmmm, well what could help, if you fins someone who makes it, is a dampener. Something that will dampen your own ability unless you remove it. It may well make it easier on your every day life. And may make you less dependent on medication.”

“…dampener… Ok. I’ll try finding someone who makes that.” He smiles weakly up at him. Thankful that he met Ratchet.

“Thank you Ratchet sir. This help me a lot and if there’s anything I can do to repay you. Please let me know.”

Ratchet held up a servo. “No need, I’m a medic, helping people who come in here is what I do. Personally I don’t care their past, if they end up in my clinic and I can help, I will. It’s no different with you. I am here to help Soundwave.” Attempting to offer him a smile. “ Just come back if the medication doesn’t work, I’ll change it for you.”

Here’s your gunformer tantrum. Hissing and screeching insults while stomping his pede. He’ll even start throwing things in a bit.

“Nyep! You stop that! Stop acting like a newspark! Honestly where do you think that tantrum is going to get you other than winded?”

A growl as answer. In Vos’ opinion, things either go his way or no way at all. Capiche?

Ratchet was unimpressed. He’s worked on Starscream, more than once. He can handle these tantrums. “Honestly how hard is it just to do what a medic tells you? If you do you’ll feel better, if not, you’ll just be miserable. And as a medic, I can’t allow you, even being as stubborn as you are, to continue ignoring obvious health issues.”

“By the allspark!” Ratchet quickly gathered the minicon, hurriedly rushing the small mech to an exam room and putting him on a medicated drip. Fortunately orion had long fallen asleep, giving Ratchet the freedom to focus on this poor soul.

He’d get him stable, at least for now, and if necessary, transfer him to a proper medical facility in the city in the morning.

Ratchet quickly worked on stabilizing the mech, before focussing on what happened to him. He was weak, but why? Maybe he’d gotten lost in the wastes, or worse, had been a captive. None of it mattered at the moment, surly the small mech would explain when he woke.

“You little...” *Phhaahh* “I’ll go check the cameras.” Ratchet had at some point in the last few months, gone to the city, found the smallest minibot he could, and hired them to put cameras into his vents. Though the conversation had been awkward, the minibot had been surprisingly understanding.

Now however, Ratchet could watch where the tiny bitlet wandered, and knew which vents to attempt to lure him out of. Oddly, a small plush of Megatron often did the trick.

Don’t ask him where he got that.

“….yes. And I think this is the first time we’ve met.” He tilts his head some.

Ratchet had gotten some ‘well known mechs’ data catalog off one of his guests, and Soundwaves face was recognizeable. 

“My apologies, I’ve seen your picture, or rather your alternates. It is good to meet you.” Doing his best to sound half professional.

Soundwave blinks a bit. Well that was a first. Someone knew him from a picture? Huh. He retracts his mask to smile softly at the mech.

“Its alright. I believe thats the first time I’ve been recognized from a picture. It’s a pleasure to meet you, sir.”

“It been helpful to be honest, the multiverse is new to our corner of the universe. That big gate you came through is the only access to this reality. A traveler had files on mechs. I’ll admit it was odd anyone had such a thing, but its amazingly helpful. Now, what can I help you with?” This Soundwave seemed more than a little different than other Soundwaves he’d learned of and met, especially his own.

“I well um…” He shifts and rubs his neck. “N-not quite sure. I was just walking around when I happened to walk through the gate that got me here.” Well this got awkward real quick. What should he say? What should he do? Sounders rubs he scar that was on his face.

“Don’t worry. My clinic is right along the road on the way to the city. You’d be surprised how many looky loos wander in here aimlessly.” Waiving dismissively. Though it didn’t stop him from noticing Soundwave absently touching his scar. “Is that scar bothering you? If so than It likely isn’t healing correctly.”

He jumps a bit when the scar is mentioned. “Oh…It..It kind of does. It feels warm a lot of times and itchy… But I thought that was it just healing.” He smiles weakly. Moving to follow the medic. “It is still a recent scar…”

“Sit down please, I’ll check if its normal healing or if it needs attention.” Leading him into one of his clinic rooms and motioning to a bench. “You don’t need to lay down for this one, I’m just going to grab a couple instruments to examine you. They wont hurt. Can you wait a few minutes?”

Do what you are good at and be silent.” Dislodging shrapnel from the mechs tentacles. “You of all mech should know that it is unwise to pick up an undetonated explosive with ANY part of your body, especially something this sensitive!” Yanking free a fragment more harshly than necessary. “You’re lucky you didn’t loose any of them! That one is going to need to be treated for a lunar cycle before its completely back to normal!” Pointing to the other damaged tendril laying on the table.

Ratchet didn’t care that the mech was a con, he was a medic first. He’d treat anyone who wandered into his clinic, former enemy or friend. And for one he was so familiar with, con or bot, they’d get and aft chewing if they did something stupid.
