Just a quick Abigail for practice.
Experimenting with tracing over a reference photo. This would be for things I don’t normally draw, and that I don’t want to learn to draw, for the sake of one joke. Like cars. :D
Because really, what is the point of learning to draw, if not to draw self-indulgent silly stuff?
I think I'm FINALLY hitting my digital art stride. I can draw cartoons and limit my palette without being distracted by all the shiny new tools.
Have another cancer comic for my work presentation.
Yes, those neutrophils are armed with a butter knife and a super soaker. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I am going to put this in a (somewhat) serious work presentation for our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiative.
The idea is to have employees share stories of being part of non-dominant identity groups. This was my idea, so I got volunteered to go first, and I chose cancer. It’s a disability, an invisible illness.
Anyway, look at the dumb little cancer cells, doing mitosis all over the place! I just need to put in a visceral background (filled with more cancer cells, the faceless background ones) and a few more little details!! Just a few, though. This is about as complex as I want to go.
Practicing color theory with my new coloring sheet! It’s simple, since the focus is on the colors and not the drawing.
So, that junimo I drew last night wasn’t great. I uploaded it as a record of my practice, but didn’t like it. I couldn’t quite put my finger on why, so I got my 13-year-old on the horn (dude has true artistic talent, I just have the willingness to practice and learn), and he told me about colors.
“Your colors have to be the same type. Either the same color, same level of saturation, or same distance apart from the other colors in the palette. And pick your palette before you start coloring!”
(This has been pretty much the opposite of what I’ve done)
So, yeah! I picked a palette and colored the thing again. I should have gone over the dark purple with the dark brown. Maybe I’ll make a coloring page for myself! I can try different palettes there!
Anyway, my child is awesome and I’m grateful for his help.
It’s been a long while since I’ve drawn anything on my tablet. So here’s a little junimo that I whipped up in about 20 minutes.
Felt like drawing Miss Dog this evening.
Asked myself, “Why don’t I just draw something easy and cartoony and fun?”
I think I’ve been pushing myself too much, trying to do Digital Art like a Serious Digital Artist. I draw simple cartoons on paper. Why not keep doing that? Learning a different art medium is hard, so I’ll be sticking to easy cartoons and fanarts for now.
Me: I am Very Logical (tm) and I know how to separate fiction from reality.
Also Me: I’m gonna draw Emily from Stardew Valley because she’s the least likely to get mad at me if I mess up her picture.
it me but bear in dress
It me, but bear in dress
It’s like a sampler made out of pixel art! The people are: Me, Twin Bro, Son, Husband, Sister-in-Law and Niece, and Little Bro. The dogs are Momo (corgi) and Missy (scruffy fuzzball)
Kirby in the foothills.
This was literally just me fucking around a whole bunch. What does this brush do? How would this look? Can I do this?
Drawing the pixel Kirby was fun. I may want to do more pixel art.
Sebastian at the beach in the rain. The thought of an anxious boy facing one fear (water) as preparation to face the big one (people) is comforting right now. My fluff is people taking care of their mental health, lol
Is it too late to draw Sailor Moon?
Thoughts:
I know very little about Sailor Moon. I know that she’s cute and I know that Usagi means Rabbit. So she has a bun on her head.
I drew this in FireAlpaca, which is not quite as easy for me to use as Krita. I’m still struggling to find all the tools. Anyway, it recognizes pen pressure, and Krita doesn’t, so it’s time to learn FireAlpaca.
I kept putting things on layers other than the ones I intended to use. And speaking of layers, I should have made the head and the body separate layers.
This took FOREVER. Like 2 hours over 2 nights. I’m used to throwing down a traditional cartoon in 15-20 minutes.
