AppNexus Piracy Initiative Began Yesterday
There are going to be some pretty unhappy networks on the AppNexus platform today... mostly ones from Israel.
Here's the email that went out:
Dear Client, On February 28, Brian O'Kelley called out to leaders in the industry "to take a strong stand and stop putting money in the pockets of those facilitating piracy." (see press release) We are delighted to report that we have met our July 1 target date! As promised, AppNexus has stepped up its battle against the monetization of this "rogue" content. We've begun by proactively auditing for and blocking inventory that promotes or funds the distribution of pirated content in violation of our policies. In addition, as part of our broader commitment to improving ad quality, we have begun proactively auditing and removing ads uploaded to our platform that we identify as deceptive. This is just the first milestone in the ongoing journey to elevate the quality of digital advertising. For more information on our ad quality initiative, visit www.appnexus.com/quality. As always, please don't hesitate to reach out to your account manager with any questions you have on this initiative or the AppNexus anti-piracy and creative policies. We appreciate your support in our efforts. Regards, Steve Giacomelli Dir. Of Platform Operations AppNexus
