The waterfalls and granite cliffs provide endless wonder at Yosemite National Park in California. With scenery sculpted by glaciers carving and smoothing the mountains, Yosemite’s waterfalls flow over the rock cliffs making a moonbow or “lunar rainbow” possible. In the spring and early summer, if the sky is clear and the moon is full, it can produce enough light to create a rainbow from a waterfall’s mist. Just another reason why Yosemite is a magical place. This is my photo of the upper Yosemite Falls moonbow that was shared by the Department of the Interior, Yosemite National Park and Nikon USA.
Rare moonbow (rainbow from moonlight) at Upper Yosemite Falls earlier this month. Very cool to see as the clouds cleared late and the moon was still in the required position! Yosemite Falls is one of the few waterfalls in the world where moonbows can be seen (at Yosemite - April, May & June near the full moon & the right conditions).
These Hogwarts Great Hall Floating Candles (Harry Potter-themed Halloween decorations) looked pretty cool as part of a front porch Halloween display. The Bokeh of the prime lens worked great for the background lights.
My photo of the Supermoon Total Lunar Eclipse at the Washington Monument in Washington, DC on September 27, 2015. This perigee full moon (a “Super Moon”) turned into a “blood moon” during the eclipse. Very cool to see in person! A ton of photographers were at the monument. Everyone was waiting to shoot during breaks in the clouds; then re-positioning location as it climbed the sky.
Lucky enough to see the Perseids Meteor Shower (2015) from the clear and dark skies at the Edgartown Lighthouse on Martha's Vineyard. The lighthouse is lit by some faint ambient light from the boats docked in the nearby harbor.

This was taken at Disney California Adventure’s Cars Land on the road between Flo’s V8 Cafe and the Radiator Springs Racer ride, from which you can see light trails on the left. In the background is the Lost Wheel Arch, which leads on to Pacific Wharf food court.

This is a close-to full frame crop of the tidal basin sunrise I took during the 2013 Cherry Blossom Festival. The Jefferson Memorial is small but I like how this version captures the full range of colors and the continuity between the sky and the reflections on the water.

This is a seven exposure bracketed photo taken first thing in the morning before the crowds arrived. The Space Shuttle Atlantis exhibit opened in 2013. The shuttle is pitched with the cargo bay open and the arm extended. As you can see in the photo, it's also possible to get really close to the spacecraft and see it from all angles. It's an excellent experience, including the intro movie and launch simulator.

The alternative entrance into Cars Land entering from the Pacific Wharf of California Adventure is incredible, especially at night. I’m standing by the Lost Wheel Arch, which was seen in the background of my last photo. The light trails in the middle are from the Radiator Springs Racer cars speeding around Willy’s Butte.
