On Wenclair on S1
I’m seeing some stuff about people being disappointed and discouraged over Wenclair not being canon in S1… Idk if I’m cynical, jaded from years of queerbating, or realistic, but I don’t feel particularly angry about it.
Like, I would definitely be over the moon if it happened now (though knowing Netflix it wouldn’t surprise me if it became canon as something sloppy, rushed, and just for the show to get cancelled afterwards). But I think it’s okay that Wenclair isn’t a thing right out of the bat, I honestly didn't think it would be.
I think it's way better for the show to slowly develop it in future seasons. I think it makes sense that "I don't want to fall in love" Wednesday Addams takes a little time to fall for Sunshine Enid Sinclair. I enjoy slow burn, sue me. And the reviews are pointing out that their relationship IS well written, even if not romantic.
BUT
At the very least they gotta be aware by now that this fandom has taken off like crazy. We’re all over twitter, instagram, here on tumblr, we made 200 fics before the show even aired. That kind of thing matters. I really hope they’re not crazy or stupid enough to ignore us. And if it seems like they are, let's just be fucking LOUDER. Let's make more fanart, more fanfics, more posts, let them know where we stand. Let them know we ain't buying that Enid Sinclair and Wednesday Addams aren't made for each other. Don't give up yet, we're at the crucial point where we need to take a stand and be heard. If on Nov. 23 we suddenly die down, if we shut up, if we let ourselves be discouraged, then Wenclair will never be canon.
I’ll wait to give up when I know for a fact that Wenclair will never happen, that there’ll be no more seasons or that they pushed Enid or Wednesday with some boring guy for good.
Until then…. I’m going back to writing my fics.
