She peered over at the paper, half leaning on him in the process. “Oh that’s a smart idea… though you know bots can also easily be hacked. But I guess that is better than a teammate getting hurt.” She hummed slightly as she glanced over the paper. “You going to make it look like a real dog or more block like?”

              “I do, which is why I’m also working on firewalls that back each other up and can still work individually. Make it harder to hack them at least until I can come up with a way to make the bot unhackable. I know a few someones that can help with that.” Multitasking.. something that he’s good at, especially when he is working on a full tank. It’s not until they get to the cafe that Matt holds the door open and waits for her to enter before following her in.

Now she winced. Jaws of life? Yeah that wasn’t as funny of a picture. She quit laughing and kicked a pebble on the pavement. “Well at least that team got you out of the vent.” She said with a tight smile. “You know what. If you need to someone to go though a vent… I’ll do it. I’m still the right size and it’s kinda fun to cause chaos in the vents.”

              “--Actually, there’s something aside from my commissions for prosthetics I’ve been working for that, though I appreciate the offer.” There’s a bit of a smile before he shifted, pulling a smaller paper that was folded up in his pocket out. “There are dogs bred to go into tunnels after badgers and other small game.. I thought why not build a bot that can go through those kinds of spaces.. That way no one would get hurt trying to get into a ventalation system--especially with all the dangerous areas in them.”

She nearly choked on laughter when she realized she’d been right. “Ha… I was right. Shit.” She’s still trying to catch her breath. “Glad to know though that going through the vents is a Holt sibling trait. Ask Shiro about him finding me in the castle vent. How the hell did you even get out of the vents?” This is amusing and it feels normal to tease Matt about shit. “Did they have to cut you out? Like some Disney princess stuck in a dress?”

     There was a moment he shifted, surpassing the thought on the what happened during before he was free, but.. “It wasn’t so funny trying to get me out of there, but think more Jaws of life than disney princess.” The fact he got hurt at all in that process could have been an absolute fluke, but.. “If it wasn’t for that team, I’d probably still have been stuck in that vent.” It’s not something that happens a lot anyways. “Now I know I can’t go into vents like I used to.”

She had to stop walking at his explanation she started laughing so hard. Okay that was funny and she could almost picture it. “More detail. I need more detail otherwise it’s just to be me picturing you stuck in a vent or something.” She wheezes. “C’mon bro.” Is she going to use it a blackmail? Probably not since he’s willingly sharing it with her.

     He couldn’t help but smile a little bit when she asked for more information, the rebel shifting to fix his ponytail. “It’s like you were there.” He laughed a bit, knowing that there was actually a scar involved because of that situation, but it was still funny. “I hadn’t realized after training for a while with the rebels that I’d bulked up so I volunteered to go through the ventilation and for a while there I fit! Up until I got to one spot where I couldn’t turn around and I couldn’t go forward. So it was just my head poking out of the vent when the others entered the room.”

The look on his face made her laugh briefly, it was funny. “Surrrre.” She teased briefly and let the subject drop as they continued along the path to the shop. “Thank you, Matt.” She cocked her head to the side and looked over at him. “No. You never did tell me. Care to enlighten me?” She asked. Pidge was curious about that. She was just glad she’d finally noticed the wrong date on that stone. She shivered for a moment and pulled her jacket tighter around her at that memory. 

     He rolled his eyes a little before moving on in the conversation, a small smile settled on his face when she thanked him. “Psh, no problem.” He shifted to shrug his jacket on, not expecting it to be as cold as it was before he sheepishly gave a small laugh. “I was doing a mission and during that mission, we were trying to release a bunch of prisoners. Well, during that mission, I ended up stuck and unable to move. It was an awkward enough position that the rebels with me on that mission ended up laughing five whole minutes before I got freed."

She laughed. “I wasn’t referring to you not drinking any. I was referring to your I must have it made by a specific person coffee.” Pidge teased, falling into step with him. Watching him shake his head at her made her scrunch her nose slightly. “Hey! In my defense I didn’t have any at the time… though I acquired some and added it to my armor’s gloves.”   

     There’s a moment a dumb look crossed his face, the rebel shaking it off after a moment. “I mean, there may be a reason for that, but he makes my order the best.” Yeah, sidestepping that first part with the second was definitely a good idea. “Okay you know what that’s fair enough.” He snorted, somehow being reminded of his time before she found him. “Y’know I don’t think I told you why they had me in communications when you met me.” Other than the fact that yeah, he was really good at it.

She shrugged her jacket on after saving her work. Giving the cat perched beside her computer a quick scratch on the top of the head before she darted after her brother. “You and your coffee.” She teased with a grin as she caught up. “Haha. It didn’t explode on me. It gave me a pretty decent shock, though. Shiro found me clear across the hanger flat on my back. Scared the crap outta him.” 

     Spook gave a soft mew, watching the two leave the lab before going to nestle on the blanket Matt laid out on his project. “Well, I mean, I can’t always be full of energy.” Especially when he’s been staring at the same prosthetic for around four hours now. “That’s why I drink coffee.” Though hearing that and already moving out towards the front doors to start heading to the coffee shop had the older sibling shaking his head. “They make gloves to stop you from that kind of thing happening, you know that right?”

She gave him a cheeky grin. “Hey! Taking a coffee break is stepping away for a bit.” She insisted, as she stretched. She understood what he was saying about the arm. It made a lot of sense. After all she and Hunk had worked on one for Shiro at one point and had put that into consideration as well. “Well… let’s go get that coffee then. It’s been a while since we’ve just hung out at a coffee shop. We don’t need an accident in the lab after all. Remind me to tell you about the time I was working on some tech and ended up feet away from what I was working on.”

     The blond snorted, shifting to grab his jacket and hold on to it. Just in case the cafe got chilly. “Fair enough, let’s go before they have the shift change. The guy that knows my order might be leaving soon.” The wrong barista meant it might come out differently. He’s already getting ready to cover the prosthetic, knowing when he gets back, there will probably end up being a cat on it either way.. at least this way he won’t be picking fur out of the internal wiring. “Don’t tell me you blew something up while you were working on it.” There’s a laugh in his voice as he waits for her to catch up.

Pidge perked up and the mention of coffee and swept her bangs out of her eyes. “Wait. Coffee? I think coffee would help tremendously.” She pushed away from the computer she was in the middle of working on. “It’s still early enough that if I go home now… I won’t be able to figure out this bug I’m trying to remove.” She peered over at the prosthetic he was working with. “How’s it coming with your project?”

     “Can’t have you stuck on a bug.” He chuckled, those hazel eyes of his turning back to her. “Sometimes stepping away is the best answer but if you really wanna work on it, let’s head off to the coffee shop.” Though her question earns the I’m doing my best smile before he shifted back away from the prosthetic. “It’s a work in progress. I need to actually be focused on what I’m doing or I can accidentally cause the person receiving the arm some severe pain or turn it into something that could bring more harm than good. So I definitely need the coffee.”

     Hazel eyes were on the prosthetic he was working on, eyes turning to look when he heard her speak. The rebel shifted, pulling his hair back and glancing to the project before him. This person needed this prosthetic.. and he was taught how to make these but right now his head was getting foggy and he really wasn’t in it. “I was thinking about going for coffee.. but I can walk you home instead if you’d like.” Call him overprotective but he’d rather make sure his sister got home safe as opposed to anything else.
