I barely ever use this blog anymore, so I had to.
So I suppose this means the law is back on his post.
I have found my Javert muse again, and I'm glad I did! Seeing as it's summer holiday soon, I'm pretty sure I can get this blog back on the road!
hey, I just wanted to say your blog is sweet ! I am doing an assingment and i was wondering if youd be willing to help me and just explain to me what you think this quote means: "its a pity the law doesn’t allow me to be more merciful”. I respect your answer because your blog has proven me you really know your stuff. It would be awesome if you could help me out. Thanks !
Oh my god I'm sorry I didn't see this message before! I've not been very active I'm afraid, mainly due to school coming to an end at the moment. I'm glad you seem to like my blog, hahaaaaa~!
Erh, okay I chose this as a title because of Javert's personality. It's not only a quote from the book, but I feel it really reflects his character. He's a man of the law, and always will be. He will place the law and justice before his own personal things, so even if he feels a shred of compassion towards someone, he remembers that this person has done wrong by terms of the law, thus he cannot show the mercy he would like to grant. Hence it's a pity the law doesn't allow him to have mercy.
Personally, I think the law has many loopholes in which people can escape or get caught. Like the cases in which innocents are framed for crimes. According to the law they're guilty, even if common sense tells you they're not. The law has no mercy, nor pity.
TL;DR ; Law is indifferent and has no mercy.
I present to you, female derpjolras.
There will be more.

He blinked in surprise, but he couldn’t back away from the other man’s touch. That strong touch he had known from the rare few times 24601 had touched him in Toulon, that gentle touch of reassurance he had know from monsieur le Maire, the same touch that now was upon his lips for a brief moment. He glanced at Valjean and opened his mouth to speak, yet no words came out.
“Are you alright?” Valjean loosened his grip. He really have no idea of what he had just done. His could hear Javert’s short breath by this small distance between them. Just hope that he didn’t misunderstand Javert’s words.
Javert didn't react at first, still thinking about everything which had just occurred When he finally snapped back into reality, he glanced up at Valjean and moved a hand up to his own lips, which were tingling from the earlier sensation. "Yes-- actually.. I'm unsure..."

He glanced from the man’s hands on his shoulder to his face, before frowning and sending him a glare. “I’m not so sure either.” He finally muttered as he averted his gaze and moved his hand to rest on the hilt of his rapier. “But I can’t seem to stop doing it.”
Valjean looked down at inspector hand on the rapier. Hand dropped from the firm shoulder and rest upon Javert’s. “Enough fight.. no more..” He could feel his hand shaken while pulling javert’s up and rest on his cheek. Their eyes still locked on each other. “Then.. I’ll try…”  He took a deep breath “.. Since.. love is better than hate… ” his last word became a whisper. Soft thin lips pressed on the inspector’s shyly and pulled away. He just gave his awkward first kiss away.

The inspector yanked his arm free from Valjean’s grasp. “You don’t get it, do you?!” He hissed, visibly upset, even though he didn’t really know why. It seemed all his hidden emotions seemed to come out, but in the form of rage and injustice. “I needed you in Montrieul, but you ran off.” He said before swallowing thickly and gritting his teeth. “I NEEDED you.” He repeated before suddenly turning around and throwing his arms in the air. “And now I see you again, and you run off yet AGAIN.” He said before trying to regain his stern self. “I can’t let you walk off. You’ll have to fight me.”
Valjean widened his eyes for the inspector’s reaction. Half shocked half confused. He had never seen Javert like this. “Javert…w.. What do you mean by this??”
“I mea—…” He huffed and pinched the bridge of his nose. “I was ready to…” He seemed to choke on the words, like they were hurting him. Hurting him by staying inside, but also by being said. “I was ready to love you.” He finally blurted out before turning away from the man. “But you lied and ran away. Monsieur le Maire is as much of a lie as I should have known it to be.”
Silent formed between them again. But this time, there was also another sound, the sound of heartbeat in the ex-convict’s chest. Valjean was still shock by the word “love” from the Inspector. He never experienced this in his life. He could feel blushing on his cheek. His hands griped on both Javert’s sholder. He tried to calm down. He didn’t really know his feeling. He couldn’t say that he love Javert. But it seemed like the word  that javert had just  said could wash away his hate. Everything in his head just flied away. “Javert….” He whispered. “I’m not sure if I deserve to your love…”
He glanced from the man's hands on his shoulder to his face, before frowning and sending him a glare. "I'm not so sure either." He finally muttered as he averted his gaze and moved his hand to rest on the hilt of his rapier. "But I can't seem to stop doing it."

Valjean tried to gain his breath. His heart was ramming in his chest. “Bonjour, … Mersieur le Inspecteur..” He stepped backward. “Please, let me go.. my child still need me… She’s too young to be alone here.. please monsieur.. please” His voice turned to a whisper. He pulled his wrist from Javert. But it didn’t help. Javert gripped him tighter and his wrist started to ache.
Javert narrowed his eyes and shook his head. “I can’t let you go. Not again.” He hissed as he stepped closer. “You’ve been evading me for long enough now. It’s time you answer to the court and to god, M’sieur Madelaine.”  He spoke the name like it was a forbidden and sinful word, and a frown came to his face, as he growled softly. He still felt betrayed because of the events of Montreuil-sûr-mer. He had spent a lot of evenings awake and pondering on all the things which had passed. ”I trusted you!”  He suddenly hissed, out of nowhere.
Awkward silent formed between them. Valjean stopped forcing his wrist away from Javert. The Inspector should hate him forever by all things that happened at  Montreuil-sûr-mer. Instead of talking to it with this pain voice. “I’m sorry” The words came from his lips before he allowed it. Why did he have to say sorry for the reaction? Why did he regret to this?? The man had never been kind to him in his many years in Toulon. Why did Javert be this hurt? What was wrong with him?? “Javert… Please” the ex-convict grabbed on inspector’s grip with his free hand. “Let me go.. I’ll pay for the chance as much as you want..everything you want.. please just let me go.. Cosette needs me..”
The inspector yanked his arm free from Valjean's grasp. "You don't get it, do you?!" He hissed, visibly upset, even though he didn't really know why. It seemed all his hidden emotions seemed to come out, but in the form of rage and injustice. "I needed you in Montrieul, but you ran off." He said before swallowing thickly and gritting his teeth.
