Inspiration Exchange - Encouraging Active Citizenship is a strategic partnership programme taking place in The Shambles Youth Cafe, New Ross, Co. Wexford, Ireland in partnership with Associazione Culturale Malik, Gavoi, Sardinia.

The project commenced on Sept.1st 2014 and will finish on Dec. 31st. There are 10 young people from New Ross and 10 from Gavoi aged between 15- 18years.

The Project is about creating opportunities for the young people involves, their organisations, their communities and the members of the public they engage. It is about creating spaces for the young people involved to explore their identity, their sense of Global Citizenship and to express concerns and solutions to issues that are important to them.

Its also about participation, challenging negative stereotypes, empathy, understanding and acceptance.

Day 7: Public Engagement Event

Tuesday 28th, July 2015

We spent the morning doing final preparations. The event started at 4pm. We song songs, presented our art work and explained about our project to the local people who came along. The Lord Mayor of Gavoi also attended and officially welcomed us.

We made a stop motion to promote the event.

Day 6: Preperation Day

Monday 27th, 2015

Back to business today. We had lots to do to get ready for our public engagement event that was taking place the next day. ie. prepare presentation, performance, exhibition, public action etc

Day 5: Trekk to Sa Itria

Sunday 26th, July 2015

A traditional festival takes place in St Itria every year, the tradition is that people hike up to the churh where there are food festivities, traditional dance & music and everyone goes. It was packed!!

We did the 10 km hike...again all up hill, exhausting, hot but very beautiful and rewarding.

Day 4: 10 km trekk to The Lakes &  Domus de Janas

Saturday 25th

It was hot, up hill, difficult and exhausting. But we were so proud of ourselves we did it. It was so beautiful and we got to spend the afternoon by this outdoor pool. AMAZING !!!

Our new home for a week, our house is stunning, it’s called ‘Casa Sant'Antioco’. The town is so quaint and quiet.  The buildings are all very traditional and old. There are beautiful views of the mountains everywhere.
