Florence Welch outtakes by Vincent Haycock
A lecture about architecture and comics.
These comic artists trained in architecture, their comic style is very structurally sound as they studied technical drawing. It has got me to think bout my own work and how I use my backgrounds, or not as the case might be. Comic artists who haven’t studied this style of drawing works tend to be more colourful and free flowing, more creative. They mention how they are jealous of artists who can create a story just like that, as they struggle to stray from reality. However their styles are very well structured and consistent, which would be a cause of jealousy for others.
It’s inspired me to have a go myself, try technical drawings of buildings to help my practise. As an artist who has never studied theirs it can only be a benefit.
‘We Bild identities with the mortar of our childhood memories’
‘As we age, new selves graft over he old. Memory, the tide of remembering and forgetting, retains and releases, defining us. And so we live our lives carrying our unprecedented story, striving to write the memory we would like to be.’
‘Memory is what qualifies us as emotional creatures, psychozootica or however one describes them... there is no way in which we can escape it. The only thing that you can do and most people seem to be able to do very successfully is to subdue it.’
‘It remains one of the greatest unknown lands for science to explore. That of the detailed workings of the brain and questions on consciousness, emotions effect and memory.
How memory in particular, shapes us is on going ‘belonging’ is a matter of mystery.’

we’ve only been together for a few months, but lately I just really want to get a place with him.
part of it is me reminiscing getting my own place before. and the other part is hearing my friend talk about her new place.
THIS is my aesthetic
