Summary: It's been weeks since you found out you're pregnant, but how can you tell your husband, Jinyoung? More importantly, how long will it take?

His POV

“Jagiyah~ I’m home!” I turned to take off my shoes, but didn’t get a response. “Y/n? Are you here?” Still nothing. I shrugged it off, assuming she was still at work and figured she should be welcomed by a clean house.

I started in the living room, clearing the flat surfaces and lighting her favorite candle. I smiled to myself as I put it down, remembering her telling me that she lights it when I’m working late. She swears it smells like my cologne.

I head up to our bedroom, taken back to see her clothes spilling out of the closet. She must have had a hard time finding the right thing to wear. Still, I made a commitment. Y/n deserves to come hold to a clean house. With a sigh, I started putting her clothes back in their rightful place.

Your POV

“Y/n?”

“Sorry, what did you say? I drifted.” You switched your gaze back to the doctor and she repeated.

“Have you and your husband come up with a birth plan? If not we can all discuss our options at your next appointment.”

“Oh… No. We haven’t discussed it yet.” He doesn’t even know I’m expecting. You thought.

It’s not that you think he’ll take it the wrong way. You both have talked about having a family so often, but now, it’s really happening. You and Jinyoung have been married just over a year. Kids are usually the next step, but now you're wondering if there was more to do before starting your family.

Lately he's been getting more involved in acting and his music career is going though so many changes. Will this baby bring him happiness or stress? You couldn't stand the thought of him feeling held back by an unexpected family.

“Okay, well, you can always schedule an appointment that works for you both and we’ll all come up with a plan that works best. I'm sure I speak for your husband when I say you should feel comfortable and supported throughout this new chapter of your life. Until then, get plenty of rest and don’t forget your prenatal vitamins.”

With that, she left the room. You grabbed your purse and keys, pondering how to break the news to Jinyoung. At first, you thought you’d have him open a box to find cute, little, baby shoes, but that seemed too cliche. Then you thought of keeping things simple and tell him over dinner last week, but you completely lost your nerve… And your appetite. Time was passing by and soon enough you’ll be carrying a baby bump. You just have to tell him. Tonight!

His POV

I was nearly done putting her clothes away when I saw a small, white, box in the back of the closet. Is it someone’s birthday? I picked it up, gently shaking it. It’s light. I opened the lid and my eyes went wide. Shoes? Baby shoes? I opened the little card at the bottom, reading it in disbelief.

I’m so excited to start the family we always wanted. Just seven months to go!

“She’s pregnant?” Two months along! I felt so shocked, but, at the tame time, excited! Why didn't she tell me? How long has she known?

Just then, I heard the door open and close. “Jinyoung? Are you home?” I scrambled to put everything back in the box and went to hide it. “Yeah! I’m home.”

Wait. Why am I anxious? She should be explaining herself. I hurried toward the living room with the box in my hand. The second I turned the corner, she greeted me with a smile that made me melt. It quickly vanished when she saw what I was holding. Her gazed switched between my eyes and the box.

“I- uh… I’m-” She stumbled over her words, but I already knew what she way trying to say.

“-Pregnant? Jagi, when were you going to tell me?” I came closer, reaching for her hand, but I couldn’t move fast enough. I watched as she lowered her head and a small tear fell to the floor. Oh, no. She thinks I’m mad.

I drop the box on the closest table and cup her cheeks in my hands so she can look at me. “I’m not upset. I’m happy. I really am. I just don’t know why you kept this from me… or how.” With news this big, I figure she'd yell it from the rooftops.

She let out a small laugh and pulled me into a warm embrace. “I wanted to. So badly. I just didn’t know how. I found out two weeks ago, but-”

“Two weeks?”

“I know. It was so hard not saying anything. I honestly thought I’d just blurt it out, but the moment never came. And when we had our date night last week we were talking about your next big project and how busy you are and I… I didn’t want to add to your stress.”

“Y/n… having a baby isn’t easy, but what’s why we have each other. Did you feel any less stressed not telling be about this?”

She sighed and shook her head, relaxing her hold on me. “No. I was going out of my mind trying to find the right words to say.”

“And how do you feel now?”

“Relieved… safe, reassured.”

“Exactly. I vowed I will always be there for you. Nothing will change that.” Resting my hand on her tummy, she smiled. “We're a family now. We don’t need to find the exact right thing to say all the time.”

She placed her hand over mine and pressed a soft kiss on my lips. “I love you Jinyoung.”

“I love you too, Y/n. No matter what.”

Yoongi has been working late almost every night this week. He’s such a perfectionist, he refuses to give up on a song until it fits his high expectations. You stared at the front doors as Yoongi walked to your car. His eyes were heavy with exhaustion, still, he managed to pull his last bit of strength to give you a faint, yet warm smile. He joined you in the car, slouching back in the passenger seat and sighed.

You looked at him with worry. “Babe-”

“I know.” He’s heard it all before, yet he still doesn’t listen.

“...You really need to give yourself time-

“-Time to rest. I know I just… I never think the song sounds-

“Sounds good enough. I can do that too.” You teased. He gave a light chuckle and rubbed his eyes “Tell you what. When we get home, you’ll go straight to bed, and I’ll put your equipment back in the studio for tomorrow.” You offered, looking at his heavy bag.

“Thank you, baby, but I have to back up everything on the computer.”

“You can do that tomorrow.”

“But-”

“No buts! You’re exhausting yourself. You just need to sleep.” This is hit you. He always falls asleep on a long car ride.

Yoongi didn’t replay. He just let out another sigh, too tired to argue. You put the car in drive and turned on the radio, keeping the volume low. He started rubbing his forehead, shading his eyes from the glare of the street lights. You turned down various streets, taking a very long way home. Every now and again, you’d look over at him, seeing how his eyelids got heavier. You drove down smooth, quiet neighborhood roads and soon enough, he was asleep.

You continued your endless journey, making sure he slept for a little while. He began curling onto his side, just as he does when he’s in a deep sleep and you decided it was time to take him home. Quietly, you pulled into the driveway and shut off the car. Yoongi’s eyes fluttered open and he started to stretch out as you opened his door. He reached for his bag, but you managed to get to it first. You helped him out of the car and into the house. 

He slowly kicked off his shoes and walked straight to your bedroom. You dropped off his bag at his home studio and unpacked his laptop and sound equipment as promised. By the time you got to the bedroom, he was curled up under the covers. He opened one eye and pulled back the blankets for you to join him.
