She notices how positive Stiles sounds, acutely sensitive to the spectrum of tones in his voice. He seems more relaxed than she ever remembers seeing him & she can’t help the pleasant smile gracing her alabaster visage. She wants this for him, to know that he’s living a happier version of his life away from the chaos. After four years of trying to survive, she hopes there’s more to the future than that & she can’t picture a better time to experiment with that theory than now. ❛ It looks like we’ll have to figure that out, then, ❜ she responds in a honeyed note, cheeks almost glowing with authentic happiness. Between how good it is to reconnect with the world without a time sensitive objective and ensured safety of everyone she cares about ( for now ), her atypically effervescent poise is authentic — no painted on face saving reactions here, and it’s even audible. Maybe one of these days they can actually enjoy the preserve as the season changes without getting shot arrows at or stalked by mythical creatures. ❛ What are you up to now ? ❜
;; The tension is Stiles’ body seems to melt away the more the two talk to one another without a worry about anything going on around them. A soft, amused chuckle spills past his lips when he heard Lydia’s silky tone respond to his statement... It was funny but Lord knew it was true. 4 years of dealing with supernatural chaos-- werewolves, nogitsunes, chimeras, dread doctors, the wild hunt, etc.-- left all of them unable to truly recall what exactly being normal entailed. He moved from his chair, holding his cell phone to his ear while he shuffled quietly into his kitchen. He snatched up a cup from his drainboard, setting it down upon the counter before reaching into his cupboards for his coffee filters && mix.
“ I’m relaxing at home for the first time a hundred years, “ Stiles retorted with a small snort. “ I’m getting a cup of coffee and hoping I don’t crash too early... What about you, Lyds ?? What’re you up to ?? “

“Would you prefer me unclothed?” The wolf shot back, clearly not phased by Stiles’ remark. Lip curved into a smirk, as he leaned against the door frame slightly. “Just checking in and seeing how you’re settling back in.”
;; Stiles couldn’t help the bark of laughter that escaped from his lips, amused at the little retort the werewolf sent back. It reminded him of back when this first started, when he had to bribe Danny by making Derek try on Stiles’ shirts knowing damn well they were too small.
