"Huh? What did you tell him?" Clive was beginning to scare Luke. He wasn't sure what was going on, but he could tell that it wasn't good. "Who's wanting to meet me?"
Once Luke stepped in, the man almost gawked at his sight. Clive, on the other hand, smiled softly. They were in a dimly lit room with a spiralling staircase leading up to the other floors. There was another doorway to the left of the stair case, covered by dull coloured curtains.
The man who had earlier spoken to Clive sat himself down on a stool near a makeshift study desk littered with clipboards, journals, mugs, and writing tools. A glass lamp lights the area up with a soft amber glow, and so far, was the brightest light in the room. "What did I tell him? Oh-" The man already gives Clive a questioning look, as if to silently say 'Don't tell him' "I told him a story.. Though that's not important. Good people! Friends! That's who wants to meet you. Nigel over here is one of them."Ā
Ā Clive's trying to make this as comfortable for Luke as he can, a scared witness is harder to interrogate than a calm one. Nigel kind of blinks nervously at Luke, before he rubs that back of his neck and smiles nervously.Ā
"A-ah... Hi Luke, it's nice to finally meet you." The leader nods before deciding to leave Luke with Nigel. "I'm going to tell the others about you, Nigel?" "Uh- Clive?" "I want you to get to know Luke while I'm gone, is that okay?" "I suppose!" At this point, poor old Nigel has to shout it. Clive's already up the stairs. Once he's gone, Nigel's smile falls.Ā
"...Luke Triton, is it?"Ā
