Some backgrounds I designed and painted for the opening sequence of Over the Garden Wall.
Hereās another couple of concept backgrounds done for Over the Garden Wall. Ā I was trying to figure out ways of using areas of black and still having stuff look bright and sunny.

a comic i made for uni my first really serious attempt at a comic i suppose! iām not a writer so i had no idea what i wanted to do for a story or how to go about it, in the end i just decided to draw about how i was feeling
itās probably got a lot of errors and there are things i want to change but i definitely learnt a lotĀ ! i got to print it as a little zine too which was real cute

Society of the Blind Eye art drop! Here are most of my contributions to the Blind Eye episode that premiered last night.
This episode was another big part of the ongoing narrative reveal for season 2 and I wanted to make sure the paint reflected that. This episode sheds a lot of light onto previously blurry and unexplained aspects of the show and itās characters. I thought it would interesting if the lighting mirrored that. So I chose to keep the paint for the cold open very dark and foggy, light only shed on specific details, Leaving lots to the imagination. Then as we moved to Mcgucketās yard, the fog is thick and dense surrounding this character and his environment, but we begin to see some sunlight breaking through the clouds as the next clue has led them to the new location. Eventually, As we get to the museum (image not included, Iāll try and post later) the sun has made itās way out and is shedding light directly onto the building where new information and character development is revealed for the first time. Also, the top paint of the diner is a layout from the first season I made a few adjustments to for mood sake.Ā
Iām very grateful to work under the direction of Ian Worrel and Alex Hirsh, who not only allow me to explore these types of ideas within the world theyāve created, but also encourage and support them into completion. Iāve also included some of the roughs leading to my design of Mcgucketās shack in the junk yard to give anyone interested an idea of my process. Usually after each rough Iāll discuss the direction with Ian or Alex, or both and once Iāve got theyāre input will take it to the next stage of completion.
Amazing BG art Ā and development from our designer/ favorite Canadian Jeffrey Thompson!Ā
