Felix had been dragged to the Brass Monkey that night for drinks after class with a couple of students from his film editing course. His eyes glazed over as they debated, ordering beer after beer as they argued with each other until he felt a slight buzz, three empty pint glasses in front of him when he finally noticed Frankie across the bar. “’Scuze me,” he mumbled out, stumbling up from his seat and wandering over to his copper-haired friend, sliding in the seat next to her with a hopeful smile. “Hey, Franks,” he greeted her softly. Things had beens strange between them ever since that night with Ellie. He knew they were friends, and that there was no way they hadn’t discussed it. “Can I buy you a drink? Feel like I’ve been kind of MIA lately. My fault,” he said with a soft chuckle. @intothewilde
as soon as felix walked into the brass monkey, an involuntary smile appeared on frankie’s face. she thought about waving hello, but he was with people she didn’t know and she wasn’t even really sure if she wanted to talk to him. it became a game - how long until felix noticed she was there. twenty minutes? two years? it was anybody’s guess. but eventually he did, and frankie realized she was happy to see him. “hey,” she smiled. “i never say no to a free drink.” maybe he had been a little mia lately, but so had she. she just needed a little time to get used to the idea of something between him and ellie. it stung a little to know that the person she liked was into one of her best friends, but at the end of the day she just wanted them to be happy. she was fine, really. “what’s up?”
