BREAKING, 27/04/2019: Confirmed active shooter at California synagogue. Several casualties.

-The shooting was at the Congregation Chabad synagogue

-The San Diego Sheriff’s Department are responding and have told people to avoid the area, which is in Poway.

-The synagogue was hosting a Passover celebration at the time.

-Police have entered a private address which is believed to be the residence of the shooter.

-A man, believed to be the shooter, has been arrested.

-Incident happened around 11:30 AM local time.

-No deaths have been confirmed, but the Sheriff’s Department says several people are injured - including children.

-Today is the six month anniversary of the mass shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which left 11 people dead.

Update: Now confirmed that at least four people have been hospitalised for gunshot wounds. It is believed that a Rabbi and an 11-year-old child are among these injured victims.

-The FBI are now on the scene.

-Police say there is no greater threat and that the shooter acted alone.

-The injuries were confirmed by the Palomar Medical Centre, who received the four victims and are now treating them in the hospital’s trauma unit.

-An anti-Semitic manifesto has been circulating online, reportedly from the shooter, but his authorship not been confirmed.

Update: The Mayor of Poway has described the shootings as “a hate crime”.

-There are reports that a person (or persons) inside the synagogue put up some kind of physical resistance to the shooter, preventing the attack from being even worse.

Possible Manifesto:

-The shooter names himself and says he is 19-years-old in this document.

-At one point he quotes from the video game Skyrim and says the shooting was planned and funded by Pewdiepie.

-He says he was the one who set fire to a mosque in Escondido last month.

-He lists two other mass shooters as his inspirations.

-He says he is neither a conservative or a Trump supporter.

-He says he was planning the shooting for four weeks, deciding to do so after reading Brenton Tarrant’s manifesto.

-There are several paragraphs blaming Jewish people for things he doesn’t like.

Police Conference:

-An off-duty border patrol agent returned fire on the shooter.

-A female child and two adult males remain in hospital after being shot.

-An adult female was shot and killed.

-Shooter called police to turn himself in and surrendered.

-He was armed with an “AR style assault weapon”.

-The shooter is currently being interviewed by homicide investigators.

-Police are reviewing the manifesto.

-Shooting began at 11:23 AM.

The San Diego Sheriff’s Department has officially confirmed the shooter is 19-year-old John Earnest, a self described white nationalist who, as well as being suspected of murder, is being investigated in regards to the Escondido mosque arson.

Updates, 30/04/2019, Shooter Makes Court Appearance:

-John Earnest has appeared in court charged with the murder of Lori Kaye and arson in relation to the fire at the Escondido mosque.

-He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

-He appeared at the Hall of Justice in downtown San Diego earlier today.

-The District Attorney clarified Earnest purchased the gun he used in the attack legally.

-He entered the synagogue carrying a semi-automatic rifle and wearing a tactical vest which was filled with five ten-round magazines.

-Earnest is alleged to have shot Lori Kaye twice in the foyer of the synagogue.

-After killing Lori Kaye and injuring Rabbi Goldstein, Earnest turned and fired into a room where children were gathered, injuring two more people.

-He supposedly fled the synagogue after his rifle jammed and/or he was unable to reload.

-His next court appearance is scheduled for May 30th.

BREAKING, 30/04/2019: Campus of North Carolina University on lockdown following active shooter reports.

-It is now confirmed that shots have been fired by an assailant, this is not a false  report.

-At least three people, all students, have been shot.

-The suspected shooter has been taken into custody.

-The shootings took place in or near the Kennedy Building on the Charlotte campus.

Updates:

-The number of people shot has been increased to six

-Of that six: two are dead, two are in a critical condition, and two are in an unknown condition.

The shooter is a 22-year-old student of the University.

The shooter has been identified as Trystan Andrew Terrell (22).

Police are currently moving through buildings on campus to secure the area.

-Shooter used a handgun.

-Campus now secure, shooter acted alone and there is no further threat.

-Shooter said nothing when arrested.

-Two people, both victims, have died.

-Three of the four surviving victims are in critical condition.

-The shootings took place inside a building, but not in the library as has been reported.

-Today was the last day of class at the school.

-A large number of police were already on campus due to a concert which was scheduled to take place there tonight.

-Another conference will be held later tonight.

-The Governor of North Carolina has arrived on campus.

-The lockdown has been partially lifted, meaning students may return to their residence halls.

Authorities have confirmed the suspect is Trystan Terrell; born June 6th, 1996. He has been charged with the following:

-Two counts of murder.

-Four counts of attempted murder.

-Four counts of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill.

-Discharging a firearm on university property.

Crime News, May 2nd, 2019: Scotty Garnell Morrow (52) is scheduled to be executed by the state of Georgia tonight.

Scotty Garnell Morrow was sentenced to death in 1999 for the murders of two women five years prior, in 1994. His victims were his ex-girlfriend, Barbara Ann Young; and her friend, Tonya Woods. Barbara Young ended the relationship she had with Morrow (that had lasted about six months) due to his abusive behaviour. Less than a month after this break up, Morrow drove to Young’s house and fatally shot her and her friend with a 9mm handgun when she reiterated their relationship was over.

Morrow also shot a third woman, LaToya Horne, who managed to survive by playing dead after being shot three times (including once in the head). Despite serious and permanent injuries, LaToya Horne identified Morrow as the killer to the police, and later testified at his trial. Two of Barbara Young’s children were present during the murders. Morrow’s appeals to have his execution stayed have thus far been unsuccessful, with the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles denying his appeal yesterday.

In recent minutes, Morrow’s appeals have also been denied by the Supreme Court of Georgia. His last meal is to comprise of a hamburger with mayonnaise, chicken with waffles, a pint of butter pecan ice cream, a bag of buttered popcorn, two sausages and a large glass of lemonade. If Scotty Morrow’s execution goes ahead, it will be the first carried out by the state of Georgia this year, and the fifth in the United States overall for 2019. As of writing this, Morrow’s execution by lethal injection is on track to take place in just under two and a half hours.

Scotty Morrow’s execution is on track to take place in around 20 minutes. He ate about half of his last meal, and was then offered a sedative which he refused. There will be eleven witnesses to his execution if it goes ahead.

The Supreme Court has denied Scotty Morrow’s appeal in a unanimous ruling. There are now no obstacles to his execution proceeding.

Scotty Garnell Morrow (52) is now deceased. He was pronounced dead at 9:38 PM local time. He was the fifth person to be executed in the United States in 2019, and the first in the state of Georgia. The next person scheduled to be executed in the United States is now Michael Brandon Samra (41) in Alabama, who was sentenced to death for the murders of four people in 1997.

Scotty Morrow gave his last statement as follows: “I would like to give my sincerest and deepest apology to the Young family and to the Woods family and I would also extend a very deep apology to Ms.Latoya Horne. If this gives you some type of peace, then so be it but I would hope that you would find it in your hearts to forgive. My faith in God is strong. I ask God to give me peace and comfort in my time of stress, my time of need, and he will do that.”

Updates, May 4th, 2019:

The lethal injection was first administered at 9:27 PM, meaning there was a period of 11 minutes between the injection being administered and Scotty Morrow being pronounced dead.

In related news, the Governor of New Hampshire vetoed a bill which would have abolished the death penalty in that state yesterday. There is currently only one person, 39-year-old Michael Addison, on the state’s death row. New Hampshire also has no facility that can be used to carry out an execution and has not executed anyone since 1939.

The death penalty remains an option in 30 of the 50 American states, plus at a federal level and in the military. The District of Columbia has also abolished capital punishment.

Crime News, April 18th, 2019: Alice Cutter (22) and Mark Jones (24) go on trial for alleged terrorism offences.

Alice Cutter and Mark Jones, who are also boyfriend and girlfriend, are alleged to have committed several terrorism offences between December, 2016 and September, 2017. Among the allegations is that both were supposedly members of ‘National Action’, a far-right organisation designated as a terrorist group after Neo-Nazi Thomas Mair assassinated left-wing politician Jo Cox in June, 2016.

The pair are alleged to have discussed plans to make lethal chlorine gas from household chemicals and then use it in an attack on a synagogue. Cutter was the one who proposed to choose a synagogue to be the target. She wrote: “YES, YES, YES. KILL, KILL, KILL.” after raising the prospect of such an attack. In other messages to Jones, Cutter said she wanted to decapitate a Jewish person and play football with their severed head.

Cutter was also the supposed victor of the ‘Miss Hitler Beauty Contest’ held by the group, while prosecutors have described Jones as a “leader and strategist” for NA. The trial, which is now ongoing in Birmingham Crown Court, has seen the pair described as obsessed “with knives, guns and the ideology of violent ethnic cleansing.” Both Cutter and Jones have pleaded not guilty.

Kimberly Diane Leach was Ted Bundy’s final and youngest victim aged just 12 years old. Ted abducted her from Lake City Junior High on February 9th 1978 in a white FSU van he had stolen from their campus in Tallahassee Florida.

Kim was in her first class (PE), when her homeroom teacher realised she had left without her purse. Kim was instructed, via a note from her homeroom teacher, to go back to retrieve it and then return to her PE lesson. But Kim never returned to her lesson and was never seen by her friends, family or teachers ever again. Kimberly was last spotted by Clarence Anderson, an Emergency Medical Technician, who was stuck behind a white van parked in the middle of the road outside the school. Anderson saw Kim leaving her school looking upset and like she had been crying. He noticed she was being pulled by a man who looked five feet seven to five feet ten inches tall, in his early thirties, had medium brown wavy hair, wearing a pullover sweater with a shirt on underneath it and had a scowl on his face. The young girl did not seem to be resisting going to the van with the male and Clarence said it did not seem suspicious as it looked as though a father had been to pick up his daughter from school for misbehaving.

Kimberly Leach’s decomposed body was found on April 7th, nearly two months after she was abducted from her school, in an abandoned hog pen at Suwannee River State Park (second picture) which was approximately 45 miles away from the Junior High School. She was found in the position of the last picture with the only piece of clothing on her body being a stained, off-white body shirt with a short turtleneck and long sleeves. The rest of her clothes were found folded next to her body. There were semen stains found in the crotch of her underwear, blood on her blue jeans and tears and rips on most of her clothes. It had been confirmed that Kim leach had been raped and One medical examiner, Dr Peter Lipkovic, claimed that Kim had been killed during the sexual assault. “The positioning indicates that at the time when death occurred… most probably sexual intercourse was going on.” Lipkovik also claimed Kimberly was most likely killed by “Homicidal violence to the neck region” with a hunting knife. However because of the condition of the body when found, it could not be determined whether that was the definite cause of death. Her neck was already being attacked by maggots and small animals by the time they found her body, also parts of the skin tissue was missing. When Ted found out that detectives had found Kim’s body, he became very angry and upset, Polly Nelson said in her book “When Ted learned about the discovery, he flew into a rage, ranting and raving, hyperventilating; someone gave him a bag to put over his face.” To the day of his death, Ted never talked in detail of the murder of 12 year old Kimberly Leach.

This is how a lobotomy was performed in the early 1900’s. In case you didn’t already know, a lobotomy is when doctors severed the frontal cortex from the rest of the brain. They believed they could calm a person’s emotions & stabilize their personalities. We now know lobotomies were more harmful than helpful.

One method was the “ice pick” method. Doctors used an orbitoclast, that resembled an ice pick, to go through the top of the eye socket.  They could enter the brain just by tapping lightly on the orbitoclast with a hammer to break through the thin layer of bone. Then they would twirl it to cut through the fibers. After pulling out the orbitoclast, the procedure was repeated on the other side. The transorbital lobotomy took 10 minutes or less.
