After a good couple of minutes of explaining...
“So, let me get this straight.” Marx took a deep breath, facing Taranza. “You were going to gift your highness a big golden mirror in order to lift her self esteem when these dark one-eyed globs appeared and smashed that mirror?”
“And I was trying to defend her highness from them! They were taking over our Antlers and controlling them against their will. And poor Sectonia, she...” Tears started to roll from all of his eyes, even the ones on both sides of his head. “...Sh-she used all of her p-power... t-to send me in a different universe w-with a portal....”
“...And you were... stuck in Another Dimension back then?” Magolor asked Susie.
“...And I was this close to ever getting to see my father again after getting transported to our Universe’s Another Dimension, but these beings caused my machine to malfunction. I ended up in a complete different universe.” Susie huffed, feeling rather frustrated.
It was clear that they ended up going through a different route than most other Susies and Taranzas. There was no doubt that they all had the same Darkpocalypse happen to them. Marx and Magolor already had their wrongdoings happen before things got even worse, but as far as they knew, their Susie and Taranza were still on the completely innocent side. Mags softly patted Taranza on the back in comfort.
“We were stuck in different universes for a long time before I finally made this to find him in the one where he was trapped.” Susie turned to look at the now-tearing-up Taranza while holding up her device. “Unfortunately, its universe-traversing capabilities only works twice. This is the fifth one I had to make, but at least this one can detect traces of others from the same universe as us.”
The device then stopped beeping, and even powered down completely. Susie tried to turn it back on, but with no avail. She frowned, and just threw it aside.
“...Anyways, about those events that we were supposed to go through... Like, gee, no wonder the last residents from the other ‘verse were so upset at seeing our faces. They think that we’re the same ones that caused all their troubles.”
“...Y-yeah.... T-to think, I would’ve been th-the one to let Sectonia f-fall.... m-my poor Sectonia....”
“....I...I would’ve caused m-my dad to be erased f-forever....b-because of me....” Now even she was feeling low at that realization. Both Susie and Taranza never caused the demise of their loved ones, but now that their original universe is extinct, they would never get to see them again regardless.
...Oof. Now the jester and wizard knew that they clearly had suffered enough. They remember the first time they were just as lost and confused as they were... actually, they still were, but not as grave as they had been years ago. The Lor seemed to agree, as she didn’t even wait for Magolor to respond.
“ >YOU BOTH MAY STAY IN ONE OF OUR RECENTLY-FINISHED GUEST ROOMS, IF YOU WISH. OR SEPARATE ROOMS, EVEN.”
Susie and Taranza looked up at Magolor, who just simply sighed.
“...I was going to say that.”
“I might as well too. We’re all from the same universe, anyways- no way are we letting you two stuck out there by yourselves now.” Marx smiled.
The newcomers stood shocked for a moment, before giving them both a group hug. Or, tried to. Apparently having only hands and no arms makes it feel like only one of them is being hugged. So Taranza holds the others close to him with a pair of hands each. Close enough.
And thus, marks the start of a new hope for this team of survivors.
