GET TOGETHER ONE MORE TIME...Â
Rest in Peace Ray
I merely took the energy it takes to pout and wrote some blues-Duke Ellington
BLUE FOR YOU....
When we think of colors being defined in an emotional context we think of blue.
Blue is synonomous with feelings, music, movements.Â
Sympatico with nature, we live in a world wrapped in, bordered by and highlighted with large bodies of blue, so designing with it happens organically.Â
Limitless in range of tonality makes getting the blues easy!.

Seeing within changes one's outer vision.-Joseph Chilton Pearce
MAN A 'KIN
When humans stare at an unknown object they will see something familiar first. The image of a face, is the most common. No wonder we use our image (although usually larger and better looking ) to sell to ourselves.
Mannequins, life like or stylized used in visual merchandising as a rule are now making epic appearances in art, furnishings, collectables and conversation pieces.
Once the set aside standard of retail windows, they are now making a strong comeback and trendsetters everywhere are again seeking out these fabulous figures.
The older the piece the more valuable, so before you begin to break down and redesign, be sure of what you have.

THE IRON LADY
If you want someone to say something ask a man.... if you want someone to do something ask a woman!- Margaret ThatcherÂ
Loved or despised this woman stood strong in her believes and opinions.
From meager beginnings she rose to a ground breaking position, a first!Â
That is never an easy accomplishment for anyone, Â especially a woman!
God Speed Margaret!

DOUBLE TAKE ON TWINS
It is always a great way to decorate for children and guest suites, however placement and styling have come a long way from Ricky and Lucy's NYC digs!!!
Whether using as a single bed or coupling as two these room saving pieces can be used in a variety of ways. Try dressing one as a day bed in a small space or double your design dollar and buy a set to use in two different spaces!

Take care of all your memories. For you cannot relive them. -Bob Dylan  AN AGE OF INNOCENCE AND DECADENCE...Â
We have visited and revisited the sixties and with good reason, never before was anything so brand new, and never again has the impact been so great.
So say "YA, YA, YA" and give a little sixties edge to your next design project by mixing bolds, patterns and POP(s) of color.
Call it bohemian chique or cochella cool its just a a flair for the fabulous and its showing up everywhere mixed with classics. Take a mongolian throw over a sofa or on the floor. Place a few acid colored pillows on a retrofitted sofa or bed. We see it in the newest wall papers or Palm Springs trendy and tell me it doesn't look just fab if not vaguely familiar. Affordable and fun for those with repurpose know how, this era just keeps getting groovier!

DRESSING THE WALLSÂ
So you need to use every inch of available space, try viewing clothing as art, texture and color for your interior design. Â
Displaying clothes artistically can save room as well as create focal points.
From embellished  Judy's, hanging hats, scarves over lamps, color and texture is gained when pieces of wardrobe are utilized as display!
Wall dressing takes a bit of panache, so try draping, placing and hanging beautiful pieces instead of closeting away.

WHITE FLOOR FANTASY!
Whats not to love about painted floors?
Be fearless paint brick, tile and stone if the mood strikes, why not you can always undo mostly anything....Â
Ok don't ruin value, but honestly it's less expensive then doing all new and it does give a certain perfection that only comes with a false veneer!

AU NATUREL DOES NOT MEAN BORING
http://karensfineart.blogspot.com
With muted tones found in nature bolstered by a rare yet exquiste accessory we find ourselves drawn into these scapes.
Stone, feathers, flowers, wicker, candles, pottery, and aged linens all play a huge roll in the soft focus of this design style.Â

What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. -Ecclesiastes 1:9
TRADITIONAL WITH A TWIST
Giving homage to a style, period, or design, seems to perpetually reverberate through the arts.Â
Constant updates to the original can be thought mundane, or in the least lacking in true inspiration.
It happens to us all and one supposes, as long as you do it better. Always subjective ;).
Still waiting for the NEXT BIG NEW THING!!!

A STUDY IN BLACK AND WHITE
To be successful, a room must contain the element of contrast - in forms as well as in colors and textures. -Michael Taylor, The Finest Rooms
The timeless contrast of complete opposites, works well with or without accent colors.Â
Nothing more need be considered except perhaps keeping all your whites the same color!

PRACTICAL APPLICATION!
Recognizing the need is the primary condition for design. Charles EamesÂ
As lives get busier we are always looking for practical time savers.Â

The trend to easier applique' is freeing, and usually is easy on budgets.Â

”Kitchens should be designed around what’s important - fun, food and life.” – Daniel Boulud, chef
POP GOES THE PANTRY PASTA POTS AND PANS!
The formerly mundane pallette of kitchen design has slowly given way to a cornucopia of color.
Previously steely utensils, push forth in varying voltages of vibrancy, while dull wooden surfaces yield way to lacquered and automotive finishes.Â
Possibly a marketing ploy to prep for maximum consumption, whatever the reason, cookware to counter tops, the kitchen is boldly declaring its prominence in our homes!

“Love her, love her, love her! If she favours you, love her. If she wounds you, love her. If she tears your heart to pieces – CHARLES DICKENS
10 RULES FOR CREATING DICKENSIAN CHIQUE
Like something out of Great Expectations, this romantic look has rules.Â
1)Natural elements may include aged stone, old tile, exposed brick battered hardwoods
2)Tattered textiles of varying weights and hands
3)The odd mold/ivory laden statuette, potted violet and/or if possible window sill. Â
4)Layered hues with pops of intensity amidst greys, taupes and shades thereof
5)Randomly strewn throw, nightgown, and/or multitude of cushions and rugs
6)A roaring fire place or at the very least candlesÂ
7)A bath, bed or chaise of timely frame poised in an alluring setting
8)Genuine antiquity in all its decaying glory alluding unrequited intensity.Â
9)Unlit corners to further the sense for securityÂ
10)Background music to suit
