Blossom (dir. Zeng Qing Jie)
a summer compilation | By Nevi Ayu E.
That summer we shot our documentary!
I just want to point out the portrayal of Yeonsu and Woongâs relationship based on their distance and body language in the starting sit-down interview scenes of their documentaries. This compilation started because while it might not be clearly shown in these drawings (well because I didnât draw the faces), but the first Woong is putting up his arm just so Yeonsu canât see him staring at her since the beginning, cute lol.
Yeon-soo drunk crying over:    1. her umbrella    2. her Woong
Your ships never being endgame is just the price of having taste.
Like that, Woong left around the end of winter. I was okay. (NARRATOR: She was definitely not okay.)
OUR BELOVED SUMMER (2021-2022)
I was rewatching previews and teasers for our beloved summer (because im literally in withdrawal... and i cant seem to freaking move on) and noticed that we there were a lot of scenes that were included in the teasers and previews but didnt make it in the actual episode...Â
but out of all the unreleased scenes, i really wishes they included these two scenes..
the first gif is from the ep. 5 preview and i am guessing its after yeonsoo and woong have their talk in the bar. in this clip, yeonsoo is seen saying âim sorryâ while woong says âletâs not waste our time on these useless emotionsâ
the second gif is from ep. 16 preview and i am guessing it was supposed to be shown in the beginning after woong has laid out all his art and before he asked yeonsoo to go to france..Â
i just noticed somethingâŠ
when yeonsoo said âëČêœëŽ€ë€, ì°ëŠŹâ (we saw the cherry blossoms) - woongâs proposal is the parallel to that âêȰíŒíì, ì°ëŠŹâ (letâs get married). god i really wish international fans had the ability to see the parallels that are being used in the original korean context.
the âì°ëŠŹâ (us) is being emphasized constantly throughout the drama but itâs those two scenes that really connect each other
i donât know why but im still crying over that ending.. i donât think i should rewatch the last episode for the time being. i legit started crying in the car driving home while listening to Christmas Tree
i honestly thought yeon-su was gonna say yes to going with ung this time around but this is even better.
that montage of people who didn't let yeon-su be alone made me tear up, she realized she did like her life after all and that is such an important step.
of course it wasn't going to ruin their relationship, they know better now.
You should say that face to face. Youâre unbelievable. OUR BELOVED SUMMER (2021) dir. Kim Yoon Jin
the ending of our beloved summer made me bawl the fuck out. it was so healing and liberating to see all the characters taking control of their lives and simultaneously letting go
OBS final episode
YEONSOO
i think i always knew that yeonsoo wouldnt go to france. but i never expected the way she did it. i loved how she acknowledged that she was surrounded by people who did love and support her. the moment the montage with solyi and her boss was shown i burst into tears because she was growing. she was learning to love herself and the things she had. i dont think i could have ever wanted a better ending for her.
WOONG
my dear boy ): when it was revealed woong was adopted, i wondered if that played into why he seemed like he didnt have a care in the world. and i loved how the episode showcased that. i sobbed when he said he felt as he was on borrowed time. which plays into why he never really held onto the things around him. and god the scene with his dear mom, i loved how they were both ready to move past the pain and is ready to live as a more tighter family.
but my favorite scene has to be his healing scene. i really loved how we didnt have to see his birth father clearly or even have him talk because it wouldnt have changed the fact that woong was ready to move on and would want his birth father to move on too. no words were spoken and yet it made the most sound.Â
WOONGYEONSOO
finally, god this couple. this couple who had me on a tight rope since episode 1 and boy have we come a long way. i really loved how they both were ready for the long distance relationship because they both knew they were always going to love one another. for the longest time, it was yeonsoo who would walk away while woong waited but this time it was the opposite. it was woong who walked away and yeonsoo who waited but instead of pain, it was love that was being passed around.
the growth that this drama has showed was immense. Yeonsoo who finally has learned to love life while Woong has finally realized what he wanted to do with his life.Â
also, i dont know if people have caught this but when woong says âi love youâ the first time, we as the audience cant hear it because that was only for yeonsooÂ
if you see me crying, itâs because im replaying the ending over and over and over
i might just cry all day after watching that final episode god it was good
saying goodbye to our beloved summer is soo hard... this drama that has made such an impact on me in the last 2 months.. god... i dont think ive been this invested in a kdrama since âIts Okay, Itâs LoveâÂ
after ep 15, I stand by what I said about why ung draws buildings - itâs really so much more about them being static.
itâs about forcing us to look at a building - what we wouldnât take a second glance at - much like how he considers himself or his existence and how people relate to him⊠itâs about how easily he thinks he can be abandoned.
but I wouldnât call it âimmaturityâ or âlacking emotionâ; I think itâs more of a silent cry to be seen, in the only way he knows possible.
because if they look at need his drawings, maybe theyâll look at need him too.
