#203: REFRAME THE CONCEPT - “reframe the concept”
Unfortunately, I never saw REFRAME THE CONCEPT because they had already broken up (they existed from October 1995 to February 1997) before I even moved to Vienna. This record was also recorded posthumously and was not released until 1999 on Windmill Records.
The quintet played metallic hardcore (not yet metalcore, which became popular a little later) in the vein of STARKWEATHER but with a slightly cleaner sound. REFRAME THE CONCEPT actually had hard rock/metal riffs in their songs (e.g., in the song “cosmic”), which was actually somewhat unusual.
There are four songs on the 7", whose excellent design is based on a movie poster. The record was limited to just under 1,000 copies (approx. 200 in blue and approx. 800 in black vinyl). Since I have both versions, I probably bought them directly from the label owner Stefan Kauschitz.
The posthumous release was truly an excellent idea and a fitting conclusion for a band whose songs are still enjoyable to listen to today, almost 30 years after they were created.
