Hi there! You can call me Ring! I run a Dawnblade Warlock (most of the time) and change the tree depending on the situation. I also really really like the gun Outbreak Perfected and kind of live in Gambit.

This blog is mostly here to ramble because I love lore and I’ve probably ended up developing my player character way more than I should have. I might dump little pieces of writing here and there that kind of spawned from my head and that I don’t know what to do with.

Other than that, if you wanna know a little more about me:

My favorite characters are Eris and the Drifter. Because I like rude and/or annoying people I guess. Failsafe is a close second though.

i can and will read all of the lore ive unlocked. and then go into the app and read weapon lore for things i still haven’t unlocked

Okay so do y’all know about Stochastic Variable and its lore? No? Well. Here. Take a look at this

Okay the top line got cutoff but honestly I’ll take it if I got all the timelines in. Like, LOOK at this. Honestly this is the craziest lore so far in this season. It’s the potential timelines Lakshmi saw. Which uhhhhh yeah it seems that just like a certain Psion we met last season (Ixel, for those of you wondering), it gave her *one* scenario where she ends up top dog. And ya know, that was also the stuff that showed that Vex predictions could likely be subverted.

Also want to point out the “Asher speaks” statement. Notice how both of the timelines that ends up in, FWC gets screwed. I’m just. Is there potential for Lakshmi to screw up SO BADLY that we get some potential badmouthing from Asher???

But besides that, I would like to just show one more thing, which was the first timeline from the Far Future lore tab from last season.

Oh yeah, absolutely. Same as it did for the Psions. Psions and Lakshmi seems to be tapping into the same pool of knowledge tbh. And while some of it may end up being true, it's more likely that they will drive themselves insane thinking about how to prevent some of it or make some of it happen.

Absolutely. I think one of the really interesting things about it is that in the transmission you get from Lakshmi she speaks of the City ruined with Mithrax in the center of it. Timeline 3 definitely speaks a little to that, but it doesn’t specify what he’s firing at. I’m probably gonna keep this in mind as the season progresses because mm. Yeah not the first time lore has dangled something like this in our face.

Personal highlights from my time in DSC

Because I honestly found a really amazing fireteam and I want to kind of talk about my personal highlights. We dipped at Atraks but like. We had fun

1. Figuring out we had to jump platforms in the frostbite section

2. Finally making it across those platforms

3. “Hey what kind of liquid do you think is in those tubes?” “Vex Milk, probably.”

4. Absolutely blasting the security system with Xenophage (you did good Omar thank you)

5. The fucking cHEER once we finally beat the security system

6. “Hey if you leave the raid you get the Lament quest” “””wHAT”””

7. “WE’RE IN CLARITY CONTROL???”

8. Explaining to my fireteam why Clarity Control is important and hearing them go dead silent

9. “Oh” —My fireteam, watching Taniks punch a crack into the glass

10. “LAUNCH POD OPEN????????? WHAT???????”

11. “SPACE???!??!?!!??!”

It was a bunch of hilarious screaming and 10/10 would do again

I don’t think I realized just how strong Falling Guillotine is until I managed to KO a Warlock with Dawnblade active in under a second with the heavy attack.

So my imagination on little to no info produces some interesting/weird stuff

I’m okay with admitting it now but right before I got into Destiny (I have not been playing this game for very long, but with COVID I have had....a lot of free time), my brother spent two weeks trying to get a Solo Flawless run of Prophecy (and did eventually succeed), and I heard this SO many times:

“You seek to know the nature of the dark. We have forged an answer.”

“What?! Where?!”

“You’re standing in it.”

That I legitimately thought it was the only opening dialogue for the dungeon and that it was part of an actual rendered cutscene. I had a mental idea of what it looked like too but it was kind of weird because:

a. I had only seen the trailer for Prophecy

b. The only time I had seen the Drifter was in the announcement trailer for Beyond Light, so I kind of just assumed he always dressed like that. Not that I got a very good view of him considering I’m not great with dark images (or dark anything for that matter. I had to play most of Shadowkeep with my computer’s brightness on max) and the way it went was my brothers pointing at him as the trailer played like “that’s the ratman in the basement”

c. I had NO IDEA what the Emissary looked like. I knew she was blue, but uh. Brain kept telling me she looked exactly like the Exo Stranger (my brain: that stranger person has some blue??? right????? she blue?????) because I legitimately couldn’t differentiate the two. It didn’t help that I thought they sounded similar as well.

But overall it was very strange and as far as my memory serves me it looked kind of like this:

Which is obviously way off for several reasons but it’s an image i personally find very interesting anyways. Thankfully now I know that certain characters are indeed different and what they actually look like, but this was something I wanted to bring up anyways.

okay i actually have a legitimate question about eris:

How blind is she? I mean blind in the literal sense.

I know she stuck Hive eyes in her skull when her actual ones got torn out but also there’s the mask, ect. And she seems to know exactly how to navigate most things but there has also been times where it definitely seems like she’s trying to locate something that really is right in front of her.

As a minor stupid sidenote in the Contact dialogue where the Drifter talks about eating Hive eyes I initially thought Eris was referring to her own before remembering that she had to sustain herself down in the tunnels somehow and therefore had probably actually eaten some

Is it because of the Ahamkhara bone? Do the Hive eyes actually do anything?? This is a question that kind of surfaced for me as of late that I’m kinda curious about.

Sorry in advance if this has actually been answered somewhere/for asking a kinda dumb question.

@inthelightofthetraveler It’s not clear or consistent in the lore. Some of her voice lines suggest she’s blind (check out these compilations I’ve made for examples, and you can probably find more in my tags, since I like to follow Eris around and write down what she says), while other pieces of lore describe her seeing (the Shadowkeep narrative previews, which are told from her POV, have her describing things like light, color, shape and movement). Other lore suggests that she can see, but sees *differently* now.

I like to headcanon that she has lost her human sight, but can see like a hive now. But how that’s defined is unclear. The dialog between her and Drifter point to hive being able to see beyond what humans can see, probably in some metaphysical sense (in other words, not *just* seeing like different wavelengths of light). The Verity’s Brow lore states:

“The Hive do not see how we see. They look beyond, into the infinite. Into the dark."  —Eris Morn 

Which, IMO, bolsters that particular interpretation of hive vision.

TL;DR: her vision has changed but it’s not clear in what way or to what degree.
