I’ve had more time to form my thoughts at this point and I guess one thing I really have to say: I really liked where it went. I really wasn’t sure expecting where it went but man. Well done.
I guess I need to preface this is that, like everyone else, I had preconceived notions about Azul. I understood that he’s honestly one hell of a mess of kid, but I think I sort of underestimated where some of the issues came from. Nor did I expect him to be quite as emotionally voilatile as he is.
But at the end of the day, I was okay with what I found. If anything, I found it more of a reminder that, yes, despite the shrewd business man exterior, he’s still an idiot teenager who had to teach himself how to walk a year ago.
That isn’t to bash on his intelligence in the slightest—he really is very smart, but that isn’t to say he makes good decisions all of the time. Because he doesn’t. And he has made many, MANY crappy ones. I’m still holding eel juice lotion as one of them.
Besides that, what was in the chapter explains A LOT of his behavior elsewhere. I have talked to @twistedriddle about this a lot (mainly because they told me. As in Mod Riddle. I’m Mod Azul on there btw), but his homescreen dialogue changes drastically from before and after groovying his cards. It goes from pretty rude to approval-seeking. We’ve jokingly called him a “fish-puppy” for a reason. Because if he decides he likes someone, he wants their opinion. On a lot of things. This ranges from stressing over his appearance to more or less politely asking you if you dislike talking to him. Idk ya dingus maybe if I didn’t I wouldn’t have you on my homescreen all the time nor would i be emptying my wallet to get your SSR but I digress
Which is something that his backstory explains, given how hard he’s trying generally. Because before we weren’t quite sure where it transitioned from rude stinky octopus to...kind of soft (although he is still kind of rude). If you want opinions, you might as well ask someone you trust, right?
I’m just rambling and essentially writing a big lovemail directed squarely at Octavinelle’s dorm leader because his dumb ass needs to learn to accept himself better, so I’ll leave it at that.
